Hire a good coach and pay him and his assistants well. That's the UT model.

I in all honesty think that I could build any program to championship level competition within 4 years. It all starts with communication by the coaches and instilling a great strength and conditioning program.

Texoma is the only thing worth a flip at Denison! I'd guess S'ville doesn't have much going for it.

The only claim to fame for either one of them is beating the snot out
of us on a few occasions in the playoffs. If it wasn't for that most
people would've probably never heard of them.

I think the keys to building a great program are as follows.

1. Booster Club - With the booster club comes community support and with community support you and your program can go a long way.

2. Strength and Condition like BBDE said

3. Relationship with STUDENT athletes

4. Schematics to fit the talent you have on hand

5. Just win baby
