Will the Mavs blow it?

I know the Mavs don't have much of a chance of advancing in the playoffs if they are the 8 seed and face the Lakers in round 1. They are only 1 game behind Utah for the 7 seed and host Utah on Wednesday of this week. They have a 3 game lead on the Suns and host the Suns on Sunday. If the the Suns win that game they will be 2 back with 5 to play. Looking at the schedule how likely do you think it is that the Mavs actually miss the playoffs?

If the Mavs beat the suns I think they're in, even though not mathematically, I think they're in. If they lose, I can see them falling to 9th.

I would rather have seen them blow it and get a lottery ball. Better than four-and-out to the Lakers.

As it was, they didn't, and they played great for a change. Where was that over the previous 76 games?

The Mavs are in the worst possible place to be in the NBA. They're old, they're cap-strapped, and they're mediocre.

Unless Cuban blows the team up and they get some lottery picks in there, they'll be a middle-of-the road, 50-win team that never makes a serious run and exits the first round every year.

Winning the ring gives you the right to bring it up at anytime. Nobody can take those championships away, they go down in history. What's weak is showing a clip of a first round game over a lower seed team. Once the Mavs get one of these, they'll be like the other Texas NBA teams.
