Giddings-2 East Bernard-0

Giddings pitcher had 14 strikeouts. Repka for EB had 8 I think.
Lady Buffs scored 2 in the first, on 1 hit and a couple of lady Brahma errors. 1 hour and 14 minute ballgame. Those are a pleasure to work. Good luck to both teams in district. Lady Brahmas are ranked # 1 in 2a...

Does anyone have score on Giddings and No. 1 ranked East Bernard from tonight?

They were supposed to play each other

but seem like Giddings would be playing in district already

La Grange 10-0 over Lake Travis, all I can say is Lake Travis would not beat our JV. Pitiful as a team, all their good players must play soccer. 4A school with varsity team only, no JV.

Columbia 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 - 1 3 1
Needville 0 0 0 0 0 0 2 - 2 6 0

Bottom of 7th:
* Slap single
* Fielder's choice (1 out)
* Sacrfice bunt (runner to 2nd)
* Single to center, throw to home not in time, throw to 2nd sails to CF, winning run scores

Neither pitcher got their normal number of strikeouts (Falls struck out 3, Parker struck out 5)

Great defense on both sides. Needville had 2 double plays on great catches and doubling off runners. Both sides hit the ball hard and the defenses did their jobs.

As reported by Once it was Falfurrias 5 Ingleside 4 in District 31AAA.

Also it was Aransas Pass 15 Mathis 4 in 6 innings and Robstown 3 West Oso 2.

Sinton and Aransas Pass are both 3 - 0 in district and meet in Aransas Pass at noon on Thursday. What a terrible time for us people that have to work. Plus Aransas Pass has the teenage terminator which most certainly increases the risk.

Here's a score from a make-up game on Monday...Madisonville wins 2-5 against Taylor. I know what you're thinking, but, Taylor had a girl ejected for not attempting to slide into the plate and the coach had already burned his subs (they only had 10 players) so they had to forfeit.

Can't you play with 8 or is this just an ASA rule?

I'm not sure. I would of hated being a parent from Taylor having to drive the 2 hours back after witnessing that.

A friend of mine found this for me:

Rule 4-3-1g in the 2009 NFHS Softball Rules Book states that "A game shall be forfeited to the offended team by the umpire when a team: (g) cannot provide 8 players (F.P.), ... in the batting order to finish the game. An out is called in that spot of the batting order (7-4-1). If that player has safely reached base, then the most recent batter not on base is allowed to run for that player, until that player is put out, scores, or the half-inning ends.

So, the answer to your question is YES - play with 8 hitters with the missing spot an out.

With the sub already burned they had no one to replace her in the field. I guess you have to have 9 in the field.

Madisonville also beat Cameron last night 8-2 I think that puts Madisonville at 3-1 in dist.

Once the sub was burned it left 8 players. The rules read you must provide 8 players to finish a contest, which they did. Taylor is protesting this game on a rule inturpretation. If found in Taylor's favor the game will resume from that point. I look this up on the UIL web site.

You are right the umps should have never ended the game. If found in Taylor's favor, yes they would have to finish the game from the point that it was stopped.
