Wow! I just checked the distances for the new alignment in 1A-1 Dvi. 1 and there is only one district game under 100 miles distance, Forsan/Eldorado @ 37.54 miles. The farthest is Eldorado/Van Horn @ 280.83 miles. There are 5 games over 200 miles distant plus another 4 games over 100 miles. That is only a 5 game district! Thus only one game under 100 miles! Those folks will get tired of that in a hurry.

Th U.I.L. needs to get rid of the split conference plan and make plans for a 6A.

There is no way that Forsan is only 37 miles from Eldorado!!

Unless we are talking about 2 different Forsans or Eldorados.

I would have figured around 110-120 miles or so!

Tell me. Bronte my old alma is 75 miles north of eldorado and about 90 miles southeast of Forsan. I figure Forsan goes down 87 to eldorado and it would be somewhere around 120 miles give or take as a ball park figure.

West Texas Schools are used to the travel, a part of life.

I agree with that one. One alignment our district included Sterling City, Forsan, Jayton and Robert Lee. We all had some drives depending on who we were playing and where. We played the same schools in Jr High that we played in Highschool so travel happened to everybody from grade 7 up.

You are correct! Stanton /Forsan is 35.33 and Eldorado/Forsan is 120.39. Must have neglected to change towns some way or other. Still a lot of miles.

The fact that West Texans are used to long drives does not make it any easier to go over 200 miles and back on a Friday night. Remember, by rule the teams cannot stay overnight and it would be too expensive any way.

When I lived and played in Ozona, our longest drive was Sanderson, about 120 miles. All other games were less. Of course for all intents and purposes there is hardly a Sanderson now. Our close game was Sonora, 36 miles.
