Just got back from WCJC baseball game against Blinn who was 7-2 in the South Zone of the Region XIV Conference standings.

Game was played at Tiger Field in Wharton

WCJC won 6-3 for their only third win in Zone play. They were 7-20 on the season

Undermanned and a small pitching staff they played well against the Buccanners who had thieir dugout packed with players

The two teams play a doubleheader in Brenham on Saturday

Even Junior College Baseball is a step the high school level

Most of their games are nine inning unless they play a doubleheader

Because of the draft rules Jr College baseball in general is outstanding. The facilities and support of the colleges may lack but the quality of ball is excellent. Players can go to juco and get drafted after their freshman and/or soph seasons. They can then sign or go to a 4 year school. As a result of this many turn down 4 year schools out of high school and go the juco route before pro ball. You dont have to exactly be a rocket scientist to play at the juco level. All of these things lead to play that is equal to alot of the D1 programs.
