I'm not much of a Bandy, but thought this was pretty cool for these kids.

Members of the Sweetwater High School Band will be travelling to Anaheim, CA on March 14th to record at the Disney Sound Studio in Disneyland. While there, the band students will work with clinicians and world renowned recording technicians to create a soundtrack to many different Disney Studios films. “This is an amazing opportunity for the students of the SHS Band to get to see a different side to what we do in class each day. They will be exposed to the studio side of the music business and will perform the duties of working studio musicians,” said Steven Nazworth, SHS Band Director. While participating in the recording sessions, students will have the opportunity to work alongside real studio musicians, composers, arrangers, and conductors. At the end of the session, the students will be able not only to hear what they have created, but will see it on the big screen with the musical score played by Sweetwater students.
Also while in California for the week, Sweetwater Band students will visit the Disney California Adventure Park, Disneyland, Downtown Disney, and Universal Studios Hollywood with a side trip to visit the historic Hollywood sign.
The SHS Band students have been fundraising for this trip since May of 2008 and the trip could not have been possible without the tireless efforts of the Sweetwater Band Booster Club who raised over $10,000 to help defray the cost for the students. “We are so appreciative of the Sweetwater Band Booster Club for what they have done for our students and what they will continue to do in order to better our band program,” said Nazworth. “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our students and we are glad that we are able to provide a glimpse into the other side of music that most people don’t get to see.”
The SHS Band will receive a DVD following their recording session and will play portions for the public at their upcoming Spring Band Concert on May 18th in the SHS Auditorium.
