Gobbler Jr High Relays tomorrow (Thursday)
Jack Adcock Gobbler Relays Saturday - had some teams drop out (some due to having basketball teams still playing) but still looking towards approx 15 schools (3-4 teams per school) showing up.

Crandall girls shot putter was State Champion last year as a Sophomore. The Rowlett kid is AMAZING. He might win 5 golds in 5A at state this year. It was a possibility last year. Hes a Texas Signee for track.

How about Kenneth Turner of Snyder, who won the 100 and 200 meters at last year's state meet and returned without missing a beat this year.

There's a guy from Lampasas who has been throwing in the upper 160's in discus - 168' this past Saturday. It's nowhere near record breaking, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him make it to state, depending on that district & region.

La Vega has some really good shot putters (and maybe discus...I forget). Also in the shot put, McGregor & (heck, old-timers) a 1A school in the Waco area have kids putting around 50'.

China Spring has a two time state Qualifier returning in discus in the 155-60 range and threw 50 in the shot this past weekend.
Of coarse in Region I , there is only one slot open in discus and shot for the State meet.

Also a disc thrower in Argyle returning that was third in Regionals last year.

I figured he was throwing & have intended to ask, since my son said he didn't throw at the Gatesville meet. (And LOL at the open slot and you're probably right. ;) )

He's the athlete from Whitesboro that threw 184-11 in the discus (1st place) and 66-01.25 in the shot put (1st place) last year at state.

Makes no difference. He is in a class unto himself.

Hayden Baillio is the Whitesboro senior thrower and yes, he IS in a class by himself. He won state in the shot both his soph and junior seasons and finished 2nd as a soph and 1st as a junior in the discus. He has signed with Texas and is awesome. He has already gone 66+ and 188+. He has thrown 70 and 210 in practice. We really think that the 3A state records will go down this year. Hayden has a very real chance for the 2nd longest throws in Texas High School History! Here are the top 10 performances ever in Texas.

Shot Put
81-3½ Michael Carter Dallas Thomas Jefferson 1979
72-3¼ Sam Walker Dallas Samuell 1968
71-2 Roger Roessler Round Rock 1996
69-7½i Stephen Saenz Rio Grande City 2009
68-10½ Jonathan Reeves Fort Bend Austin 2001
68-5 Jerry Ross Dallas Kimball 1978
68-4 Marvin Lewis Burton 1982
67-11½ Don Randell Dallas Sunset 1969
67-6½ Caesar O'Neal Huntsville 1992
67-3½ Billy Sims Galveston Ball 1987

Discus
215-2 Brian Robison Splendora 2002
210-9 Terry Pierce Fort Worth Western Hills 1999
209-6 Derek Randall Beeville 2002
208-8 Roger Roessler Round Rock 1996
206-0 Edmund Stansbury El Paso Irvin 1997
204-8 Michael Carter Dallas Thomas Jefferson 1979
204-2 Matt Lepsis Frisco 1992
203-9 Jonathan Reeves Fort Bend Austin 2001
202-7 Billy Sims Galveston Ball 1987

Girls mature earlier than boys. This is not surprising. Especially in track. Check back in 2 years when it counts to see the results.
