Can anyone provide Jamie Garcia's total stats for the season? I know the yardage, but on how many receptions, and how many TDs was he able to score?

When I think of a TE I think of him being a blocker first and a receiver second. So with that in mind what TE was the best blocker and does anyone have any blocking stats to support their pick?

with all the teams going to the spread nowadays...a TE is a WR...but you're right...give a a TE that can block...if he can catch that is just a luxury

The Wildcats used a run-first Wing T attack. They average 36 rushing attempts versus 11 pass attempts per game. The team finished with 3566 yards on the ground with 57 rushing touchdowns. I don't have specific individual blocking stats, but he has to share some of the credit for Kennedale's success on the ground.

I think that skews the stats in their favor. Jamie Garcia, which I have heard has been nicknamed "7-11" because he's always open, had quite a few of his receptions on slant routes from the slot. Tommy Shelton won All-District honors as a wide receiver, although he is listed as a Tight End. The top Tight Ends list would be very different if you were to eliminate the receptions made from a Spread formation.

lucky7 and Diboll_Lumberjack-where are you getting your stats for Diboll players? You might want to know that the stats you quote here are very different than the stats produced by the local news.

"Here are the numbers on Garcia. He was listed as a tight end but also lined up as a slot receiver. He's a great possession-type receiver who knows how to get open and never misses a ball thrown his way.

2003 Stats:
Jamie Garcia, TE, 6-0, 185, Senior.

38 catches for 529 yards (13.9 yards per catch) and five TDs. Clutch receiver for 8-4 playoff team out of killer 3A district (Jasper and Newton)."

I don't know what paper you're looking at, but the stats and quotes above were from the high school sports writer at the Lufkin Daily News
