When I was a child we had breakfast, dinner and supper. Then I started to school and we had breakfast, lunch and supper. Somewhere along the way supper became dinner. Why, and who decided that it was no longer correct to call lunch, dinner and dinner, supper? Can some of you enlighten me on this?

It's all in who raised you and what terminology was used in your household. I grew up having "dinner".

Cause "lunch and dinner" usta be the yankee ways of calling the two meals that came after breakfast and too many Texans caved in to their way of doing it!!

We still call it supper at my house though.;)

In my family "dinner" has always been reserved for times that were a little more formal or special; like holiday meals or eating out in the evening. Supper was more southern and downhome; you know, informal or casual.
