That is why I have that listed as an "option" on your voting.......who knows...there may be several who "Did not Apply"...and therefore names may not have to be released.

Rusty Buzzard is a good man and great coach. It appears that the kids in Coleman are not buying into the system or maybe the "tallent well" has run dry. Best of luck to him, Coleman and Sweetwater.:D

I know that several sent their apps in last minute to keep their names from being published. Seems odd though, I would think they will all end up being published eventually anyway. Maybe not though.

This is the first time I have seen Slaughters name on the list, but I had heard a couple weeks ago that he was applying. I know he's a good man and has really turned the Clyde program around, but I did notice they had the same problem Sweetwater has always had. They never develped a decent passing game, and when their running game got shut down they were dead in the water. Personally I dont care to see any more of that brand of football here. I want to see a balanced attack like what Wylie has proven to work best every year. I'm not sure Slaughter would give us that.

I voted for Cory Barnes, but Marcus Booker might not be a bad pick either. If you look at Cotulla's long time record at:
http://www.collier-sharp.com/cotulla.htm
you will see that Cotulla has done a heck of a lot better since his arrival than in the previous 42 years.

From what I gather from reading about his tenure there on message boards(which I know is to be taken with a grain of salt), his success has been with little or no support from administration. The kids seem to like him though, and respect him as a teacher of positive life skills and values.

don't know Booker personally but was at a Cotulla game a few years ago. I think it was his first year there. Fans started booing and hollering at the kids and yelling that they were terrible and such. If I remember correctly he called timeout, turned around to the stands and tore in to all the idiots degrading his players and told them to be positive towards the kids or not to say anything at all. He earned my respect that night.

Kent Jackson’s replace-ment as Sweetwater High School football coach and athletic director will be announced to the public on Friday, Feb. 20 after a special meeting by Sweet-water ISD trustees that is scheduled at noon that day at Mustang Bowl. According to superintendent Terry Pittman, the person who is chosen by the board as Jackson’s re-placement will then be an-nounced at a press confer-ence at the Bowl.
Pittman said he expects to have three finalists for the job after interviews are completed on Friday. Five of the eight contenders to replace Jackson had been interviewed as of today, he said. Pittman would not disclose the names of those persons who are being in-terviewed this week.
Those eight contenders were chosen from a list of 105 applicants to replace Jackson, who resigned in January after eight years at Sweetwater to accept a si-milar position at Frisco Heritage.
Sweetwater was 10-3 in 2008 and advanced to the playoffs for the ninth con-secutive year, including all eight seasons Jackson was at the school.

They must have. Otherwise, I'd say this isn't a time to try to set a record for making an important decision

And yes, it's highly important, because aside from winning or losing: the new coach will have not only more opportunity, but could present more DANGER, of affecting several kids for the rest of their lives than ANY other teacher.

Or it could be someone that knows Sweetwater pretty well because they have played each other for the past several years???

But then again...maybe not!:D :D

It seems to me that the SISD administration is conducting interviews and planning to announce their decision according to the same time table they made public when Jackson's resignation was first announced. Below is a quote from an article in the Sweetwater Reporter on Jan 14th:
"The first round of interviews for a new coach will be conducted from Feb. 9-13, with a final round of interviews scheduled Feb. 15-18. Pittman said the school board would interview the final candidate and announce its choice for the job on Feb. 20. Pittman said he hopes the new head coach can start working here on March 2. "

It appears to me that they are sticking with that plan. I know there were a few posters who criticized Brownwood for taking too long to select their HC/AD. I guess you can't please everybody, but in the end I just hope whomever is selected will get the support from Sweetwater fans, parents and players that he deserves.

That will depend on a couple of things.

1. He must trow the ball 50% of the time.
2. He must win a mininum of 12 games every season.
3. He must consult with the fans in the stands after every game.
So, they can point out what he did right or wrong during the game.
4. He must not suspend any star players for any on/off the field rules
violations.
5. He must beat Wylie.

If he can fulfill these five easy tasks then he will have 100%
support of the community.

I was under the impression that that is how Del Valle - the one Mayfield is at - is identified statewide.

Is it not?

Edit: Kind of like how people call Permian - Odessa Permian in other parts of the state.

It is the Del Valle ISD which is outside of Austin. He offered me a job at a middle school last year but I turned it down to come to Granbury. He will be good - has West Texas roots.

Kind of like Haltom High being listed as "Fort Worth Haltom" in statewide scores. It's actually in Haltom City and part of the Birdville ISD.
