moved to June 12th.

We get to listen to those analog TV adds for another 4 months.....YAY!!

The House of Representatives Thursday voted to postpone the country's shift from analog to digital TV broadcasts until June 12.

TV stations are scheduled to shut off their analog, over-the-air signals on Feb. 17. Many Democrats contended that millions of consumers were still not prepared for the switch. Older TV sets that aren't equipped or modified to receive digital signals will go dark once the transition occurs.

The Senate twice okayed a delay, most recently on Jan. 29

Thursday's House vote was 264-158.

A majority of House members voted last week to push back the implementation of digital TV. But the House considered that measure under special rules that required a supermajority of lawmakers to approve that plan.

Thursday's bill required a simple, majority vote.

White House Spokesman Robert Gibbs has indicated President Obama will sign the bill. Gibbs said the delay was important to ensure no interruption for people with televisions.

Many Republicans argued against the delay. They suggested that people who haven't purchased converter boxes or retrofitted their televisions won't be ready regardless of a new June deadline.

Some 6.5 million people receive television broadcasts via traditional airwaves. Most of those consumers are low-income or live in areas not served by cable TV.

this is dumb...

they set the date, they should stick to it - if for any reason, do it for the people who went out and got the equipment they needed like you were supposed to....

most of the people who are left probably aren't going to get the digital tuner until their rabbit ears quit working and they realize they cant watch their shows unless they do.....

then they'll probably bitch and moan and get movie offers and book deals....

I read somewhere last week that NOT switching is now going to cost most channels millions of dollars to get analog contracts for the next four months.

Give it until June, and the television industry will need a bailout.
