UIL Considering.......

I read on another forum that UIL is considering redistricting (for football only) by Division? In other words, all teams in the district will be either Division 1 or all teams in the district will be Division 2. Has anyone heard anything about that or is it misinformation?

Ridiculous!

This would put many teams many miles apart and transportation costs would be high. Just one little hurricane and the fat cats are going to raise gasoline prices again.

Keep in mind, I saw this on a girls basketball forum so DON'T ASSUME IT'S TRUE. I'm just asking if there is any validity to it?

Since it is supposedly for football only, I thought someone here might know.

This has probably been discussed here but I could not quickly find the threads. It is certainly not something new.

I remember it being discussed last year, each classification would have 2 divisions, D1 and D2, 6-man already does this.
In reality, it would be 10 seperate classifications instead of 5 like it is now, but instead of calling it 1A thru 10A, they would just put 2 divisions in each classification, and play their own districts and playoffs.

Wow! Under this mock-up. 2-3A would only lose the one team in

Why don't they just add a a couple of more classifications and just get rid of these stupid division 1 and division II in each current classification

This is indeed being kicked around by the UIL again. The 6-man coaches love it and it is the personal pet project of UIL President Dr. Charles Breithaupt. I expect it to make it's way into the redistricting in one fashion or another this next realignment in 2010. One possible scenario is to install it in 3A only and add teams on both the top and the bottom of the classification. 3A is the only division where the large school numbers are so drastically different from the small school numbers.
