Congrats to Barbay and the Newton Eagles. What an outstanding program he has put together there. Year end and year out you can always look for the Eagles to go deep into the playoffs. Good Luck this year.

he just turned 30!!!Wow, that is amazing. That means that if he had never lost a game and went 16-0 every year for the past 15 1/2 years he has been a head football coach since the age of 15. What a prodigy.

Hooray for Coach Barbay! He is the one who used to be at Jasper, right? If so, I had a couple friends in my section in band, and during games, they'd check him out with my binoculars and talk about how cute he was. Yup...we all even made shirts for one of the playoff games that said Go Dawgs on the front and We Love You Coach Barbay on the back. Good times. :D

He was in Jasper. Curtis has been in Newton for over 25 years. If I remember corectly, he was an assistant coach when Newton won it all in 1974.

Coach Barbay has exhibited class win or lose for many years. Our coaching staff has expressed respect for him and his program on several occasions.

With all of his success, it's amazing that he's been loyal to Newton. You know he's had ample opportunities to go coach in a larger school district. He's been faithful. Way to go coach! :)

Way to go coach! :) Great post JasperDog94. It's not often that you see a coach of his caliber stay at a smaller school. I'm sure he has been offered bigger and better deals, but he has chosen to stay at Newton. That says volumes for his loyalty to that school district. Great Job Coach Barbay and I wish you continued success.
