Wylie's Monk commits to Baylor
Wylie quarterback Jerod Monk, No. 87 on SportsDay's area top-100 recruiting list, has orally committed to Baylor. Monk (6-5, 230) said Tuesday that Baylor expects him to play tight end.
Monk has had an offer from Baylor since October, but said he "just wanted to make sure it was right." A visit to the Baylor campus two weeks ago helped in the decision, said Monk, who chose Baylor over TCU.
Monk was SportsDay's All-Area second team quarterback. He threw for 2,820 yards and 21 touchdowns and ran for 892 yards and 11 touchdowns for Wylie, which advanced to the Class 5A Division II title game.
Oral commitments are non-binding. Feb. 4 is the first day 2009 college football recruits can sign letters of intent.
