Basketball is very big in Boerne, but it's also a nice place to live from what I've heard over the years.

Here's a little info:

Living in Bandera, I frequent Boerne often. Very nice community. It has grown tremendously in the last few years. Mostly because of easy access from San Antonio along I-10. Bandera and Boerne used to be big rivals in football. Between 1938 and 1987 they played each other 45 times. They moved up to 4A in 1980 and the rivalry died (I know you probably didn't need some of this last info).

Great community. Lots of growth as others have stated. Heard they were planning on second high school to be opening up.
Good athletes, but IMO they've got kids that are sport specific when they should be playing at least 2 sports.

Its actually the other way around Champion will be 4A and Boerne 3A will start that alignment out in 2010 so maybe Bandera gets to renew the rivalry

banderafan, your part of the state is the best kept secret out there. We visited Kerrville, Bandera, Medina a couple of weeks ago and did the hiking thing at Lost Maples. What a cool area. If I had to uproot and move tomorrow, it'd be down there.

I saw this cool clear stuff that runs in the creeks and rivers there, they told me it was water. I'm sure they were pulling my leg, cause everyone knows water is the same color as dirt.

The Kerrville, Bandera, Medina and Boerne area is the most gorgeous land in Texas, no doubt.

Boerne is one of the richer areas in Central Texas. Very good community with lots of good people. My daughter teaches there and absolutely LOVES it. She will move to the new High school when it opens.

Just west of Boerne on Old Scenic Loop (Grey Forrest area) is a good steakhouse called Grey Moss Inn. Great atmosphere among huge oak/pecan trees. Used to be one of the best anywhere. Haven't been there in many years though.
