For anybody who's interested, Jon Daniels is doing a chat on espn.com right now.

He just said the team is exploring bringing in a free agent starter.

Now Jon Daniels confirms interest in Sheets, but says the club didn't make an offer while he was in town with his agent.

So if something crazy happens and Sheets actually becomes a Ranger the starting rotation would likely be?

1. Sheets
2. Padilla
3. Millwood
4. McCarthy
5. Harrison

Harrison is going to be above McCarthy, but yeah, those are the guys.

Is McCarthy healthy? I haven't heard too much about him lately. Harrison has definitely shown some promise. Hopefully he can continue his development in a positive way.

Where does Feldman fit it? He was their most consistent starter last year. I wouldn't write him off.

I don't think Sheets will actually be pitching in Arlington so Feldman probably gets the fifth spot.

He was told at pitching camp this week to "tone it down" because apparently he was really throwing hard. The team didn't want him to overdue it before they even get to Spring Training.

He's put on about 25 pounds this year in hopes that it provides a little more bulk and helps his body become less fragile. He said he's been on a 7,000 calories per day diet to help him beef up. He claims he feels his best now that he has since joining the Rangers, so that can only be a good sign.

I do believe he has one minor league option left, so if he struggles in Spring Training, Feldman could get his rotation spot while he gets back into pitching form in the minors.

MORE bad news.

Apparently, the Rangers and Ben Sheets agreed to a two-year contract, but Sheets' physical revealed he needed surgery to repair a torn flexor muscle in his throwing arm.

Dang, I was really hoping he could come in a be a solid #1 for the RANGERS. The pitching staff would be pretty good with a healthy Ben Sheets, Vincente Padilla, and Kevin Millwood.

I guess it's all going to be OK, Rangers fans. Instead of signing a true ace in Sheets, we've just signed Jason Jennings...you know, the guy who had an ERA over 8 last year and had the exact same injury that Sheets had, only Jennings has already had it operated on twice!

Great news indeed!

I've been on that same 7000 calorie diet for the last 5 years and even though it hasn't helped me as a pitcher, my ass has gotten fatter......so I've got that going for me.

god, can the rangers get a break? They finally decided to sign a big name pitcher and he's hurt. I dont remember when the rangers had a solid pitching rotation. The offense has been there the past few years, but the pitching is what always screws us over.
