Rangers returning to Red

My inside sources say that the Rangers will be revealing red uniforms this Friday. Expect to see the same cap from the late 90s.

I hated the red.

They wore red from 1994-2000 (well, only the home uniform was red in 2000).

They finished 1st four times in those seven years (six if you exclude 2000; they made the playoffs three times because the strike knocked out their other first place finish).

In the 30 years when the team has worn blue, they've never finished first.

True. The exact reason they need to bring back the red.

However, I thought I read somewhere that teams had to submit uniform changes well in advance to the league. I didn't think teams could just decide to change.

The changes have been submitted...the league has approved, and the club will unveil on Friday. I haven't gotten confirmation of whether the red is just an alternate jersey with the old red hat, or if the entire uniform set is changing, but I do know that the old red hat is returning with "red jerseys". The "s" in jerseys could refer to one set that will be worn by the entire team, or it could refer to many sets.

How can you put Johnny Oates picture beside Kenny Rogers? Johnny was a class act. For the record, I think they should change the team color to burnt orange.

Oates was the first picture that came up when I was looking for the Rangers reds, and Rogers was the first one in the current home whites that I found.

Notice I had the ">" sign though, so even if you want to take it as Oates vs. Rogers, Oates is greater than Rogers.

Interesting update:

"With spring training just around the corner, the Pirates and Rangers will be unveiling new uniform sets Friday. Uni Watch isn't at liberty to show you the designs before they go public, but let's just say you won't have a hard time figuring out which state the Rangers play in."

The use of the word "sets" seems to mean that both the Pirates and Rangers will be making substantial changes to their current jerseys, and I'm guessing the new red jersey will have "Texas" across the front much like the current blue.

Here's an image I just got in an email showing what the back of the jerseys will look like...they're using the same font on the back of all of their jerseys, so that's the only real change from their new blue alternate to the previous one.
