Defensive coordinator Brian Stewart came under scrutiny after Wade Phillips began making the defensive play calls midway through the season.
Stewart is the second assistant coach fired by the Cowboys since the season ended. The Cowboys fired special teams coach Bruce Read three days after the season ended.

Stewart just completed his second season on the staff. Before joining the Cowboys, Stewart was at San Diego (2004-2006) and Houston Texans (2002-2003).

The Cowboys finished the 2008 season 9-7 and out of the playoffs. In a win-and-in season finale at Philadelphia, the Cowboys were hammered at Philadelphia 44-6. The Eagles will face Arizona in the NFC Championship game Sunday.

After the loss, a distraught head coach Wade Phillips promised to change the culture of the team.

He’s following up on his words.

Read was fired on Dec. 31. Controversial cornerback/kick returner Adam “Pacman" Jones was released Jan. 7. And now Stewart is no longer on the staff.

I find it interesting that while there have been numerous threads posted on here since the end of the regular season, about who's to blame for the Cowboy's woes; Stewart's name hasn't been mentioned once.
