So I've been getting this itch to buy a 4 wheeler, yet I don't know just a whole lot about them. I'm not wanting to spend just a whole lot of money, just one that I wanna ride and take mudding. All suggestions and advice is appreciated.

What kind of size and or brand?

Look into a Polaris Sportsman 500.

Honda Rancher 300.

JUst look at the different brands, they all offer something different for you.

Ya I just don't know enough about them to know what is a good buy and what isn't. Like I said I'm just wanting something ride around and mud in. I do want a full size one though.

I have had a lot of luck with Kawasaki. I have 2 Prairies, 1 is a 1999 300 and the other is a 2005 360. Also have 2 Polaris 90 cc machines for the kids...

Kawasaki, Polaris, Honda, and Yamaha, all make good machines... You just need to shop around and decide what you are looking for in a machine and what you want to spend...

Good Luck

I rode one like this (http://www.arctic-cat.com/atv/pastModels.asp?id=790) before and it's nice, and will haul *** if you know what i mean. This is what I want!! I previously had an old 2001 Yamaha Warrior 350 w/ 6 speed manual gearbox/clutch. Not the top dog by any means in the sports category...but mine was fully piped, FMF Power Bomb header, FMF Powercore IV exhaust, K&N jet kit, K&N filter, resprocketed w/ Renthal sprockets, Hotcams Stage I cam, etc. etc. etc. It was fun and would run a hair over 70mph, but as I've gotten older my desire to have a utility quad has taken over. Now...with the 750cc+ V-twin classes being the "hot item" these days...the 500 and below classes have really come down in price. My father has the Arctic Cat in 500 4x4 (before last year Arctic Cat used other engines before building their own and Dad's bike is Suzuki powered) trim w/ the Warn winch from Arctic Cat, etc. It is a fine machine and will run close to 60mph (about 56 or 57) in stock trim....has been used to pull his Nissan Titan and flatbed w/ other bikes on it outa a mud hole...it's a FINE machine. Arctic Cats are a good bargain if you stay in or under the 500cc class.

MY suggestion is to make sure you have a place to ride it first.

You would be amazed the number of people who buy them and have no where to ride.

I live in Tyler so there are parks in Jacksonville, Alto, and of course plenty of woods around Whitehouse.

I hunt with some guys and all we have are Polaris. They seem to run very good and they can go through some stuff. I would get the Sportmen 500.
