Just installed the Ubuntu 8.10 OS on my computer and got rid of vista which is probably the best thing I have ever done and I love this Linux based system. What I am wondering if there is any cool add on gadgets or programs to enhance my Ubuntu experience? Also would someone like to give me some tips about using this OS? Thanks in advance.

You probably should have figured these things out before you downloaded it. Amateur.

I just took a double dose of Viagara and Cialis, chased down by a 5th of Jack Daniels. Can anyone tell me what side effects I might experience?:D

I think some of you are misinterpreting what I am asking. I love the OS but I am just simply asking for tweaks, programs, or hints to enhance my experience.

Ubuntu isn't any better than Vista. Anything you can accomplish with both. It just looks and navigates about 1000 times "cooler" than Vista does.

So to help you out with your question, you might want to try the normal day to day things you do with Vista and see if you can figure it out, you might have to actualy "tweak" it to make it work right.

I've been curious about this OS myself. I have used and really liked Xandros. It was fairly friendly to running Windows based programs such as Excel and stuff of that nature. I do a lot of stuff on Word, Excel, Adobe, etc. My concern would be running these types of software on the Linux system. Anyone have any experience w/ this other than Xandros?

I used Ubuntu for about 4 months or so last year, until my laptop began having problems booting it. I would turn the laptop on, only to get error messages when loading Ubuntu. I did a reinstall and it worked fine for a few days and did it again, went through this a few times, so I finally put Windows back on it.

I've got a spare laptop w/ the old AMD 64bit Turion. I'm gonna download the 64bit edition and check it out. :)

 Hmmmm HARD to say. But with their advice to call a doctor for an erection that lasts 4 hours or longer, I'd advise going ahead and calling the doc now,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and maybe buying a top quality hand lotion.
