I'm really not sure if Sweetwater does. We played Burkburnett to
open the season in Wichita Falls (WF newspaper classic). I guess
they'll play us in Sweetwater next year in week 0. Also we
played Clyde in the Sammy Baugh Classic in Sweetwater. If we
play Clyde in Clyde next year then I can only see them changing
the week of the Classic to a home game.

I think Sinton will be playing the same teams next year. The thing is we are in an 8 team district so it doesn't leave much room for non-district games.

I'm pretty sure we are!

Instead of that I hear we're playing Liberty Hill at Brownwood that week. I think they're calling it the "Finally some good football at Gordon Wood stadium classic". :D

We will actually be playing 2 EXTRA opponents in '09 since we had two games cancelled in '08 (as long as another major hurricane doesn't sweep through SE Texas for what would be the 3rd time in the past 5 years).

WO-S vs Jasper is usually a great matchup

WO-S vs 2A State Finalist Kirbyville (Well... I'll keep my mouth shut on that one) :D

That would be a good idea, cause when you played Liberty Hill here last year it sure was not much of a football game!

No doubt. LH put it on Sweetwater.

Looking for some 6-man opponents for next year, you know, to give us that "extra edge."

Every team in the state should play the same schedule. Schools sign 2 year contracts on those games to match the 2 year realignment schedule. Of course, not every team will play the same schedule for whatever reason (usually because they were scheduled to play an out of state team that chose not to play again, private school team that chose not to play, or team disbanded etc.)

Also the Classics will mix them up as well

I know not everyone plays in a "classic". But, there are so many
of them now. Sweetwater, Abilene and Brownwood have one and
that's just in our little part of Texas.

I know we played Decatur in the Gordon Wood Classic three
seasons ago. The next season Sweetwater had to agree to pay
for Decatur's motel rooms, food, and what ever else to get them
to come to Sweetwater and play in the Sammy Baugh Classic on
a Saturday at 1:00 pm.

The reason we paid those expenses was due to the failure of Coach Jackson not telling Coach Story that the two classics rotated weekends and the following year, the Sammy Baugh would fall on that weekend. We worked out that deal to keep from having to move Sammy Baugh to a different weekend. I think it worked out pretty good... we won and then a big crowd in for the Snyder/Marlin game.

Next year Sweetwater will play Monahans in the SBC....not sure of the other games...gotta call Coach Jackson to make sure.

The Sammy Baugh committee can always use some help.....hear me Sweetwater Red?????

It is a great classic. Ran very well we have been played in 3 or 4 classics and it is one of the best. We did have a great crowd.

Robinson played Celina in the HEB Classic in 06 and 07.
They just switched who was home team from one year to the next.

Pay wise...well that depends:thinking:

You get to be a part of a deal with 8 or so high school teams.....meet the players and coaches.....see lot's of great HS football....and it is all FREE!!!

The best part is the sincere appreciation the teams all show for being part of the Classic........it's pay enough!!!

As far as making you more famous or infamous......depends on you dedication to the event!!!

If I voluteered to help, there would be no question regarding
my amount of dedication. The only thing I would ask is that I can
watch the Sweetwater/Monahans game without having to guard
a gate or something else distracting.

No problem.....

SISD handles all that when Sweetwater's game is going on.
