I have wondered the same thing. Carmelo Anthony wears one on his none shooting arm also. Makes no sense to me other than they think it looks cool.

That's what I thought. It's not just a regular sleeve. It's made
of some kind of material. You see some athletes wear the same
thing on their knees if the sore or their thighs if they have a
hamstring injury.
