When a team not only has to beat a top 10 ten team, but do it in convincing fashion

Just shows another flaw when someone says

Well yes they beat a top ten team, but they were not as "pretty" or dominating enough

PLAY OFF PLEASE

Or the fact that the top 10 team is being discredited and basically being called as undeserving of the ranking.

I thought the final score didn't mean anything to the BCS. My
understanding is that if Texas would've beat OSU convincingly,
it might have persuaded the AP voters to jump UT to #1. That's
assuming OU beats Florida. Therefore Texas would be
"co-national champs".

We really need a real playoff system with at least the top 12 teams. At regular season end don't have conference title games. Have No. 1 - 4 be rewarded with a bye week and Teams 5 - 12 play elimination games. The 1 - 4 play the winners with 1 getting lowest ranked team, etc. Then you have two games with the winners playing for the NC. There would be pleanty of good teams available for other bowl games. Even 6 - 6 Notre Dame got invitied to a bowl game so both the playoff and bowl system would work. Just have to do it.

Why does this argument work for Texas but not for USC?

Do I hear 31-3?

Do I hear 31-3? minus wells and not having Pryor start. sure. OU started terrible. Pryor really made a difference for them. Boeckmen was a leader, but poor qb.
