It is half time and the two teams are putting on a great offensive show as Mississippi lead Texas Tech 24 to 21. It looks like both teams are going to score 40+ points in this game and the second half should be a good one. It was tied 21 to 21 and Tech had the ball but an interception gave Mississippi the ball on the TT 25 yard line and they moved to the TT 11 but TT defense got tough and held them to a field goal. Tech was driving as the half ended as they got in Mississippi territory.
It will probably depend on who gets the ball last and scores or who makes that last good defensive play.
We will see but this is a good one.

Tech's been outscored 31-7 since scoring the first two TD's and they're about to punt again.

Ole Miss about to score again! Should have had 7 already.

Right you are JR. TT needs to get that offense going.

Ole Miss misses a 28-yard FG attempt! Score still 31-21 Ole Miss.

WOW...Leach with the bonehead call right there. That was flatout stupidity.

I have said all along that you don't win championships with a high powered offense. Defense and special teams is killing Tech. Miss has 335 yards at the half. Mizzu barely beat NW. OK State could not hang with Ore.

If Florida has 300+ yards at the half they will beat OU by 3 TD's Ole Miss is showing the way. Control the clock and blitz the crap out of them.

TT went for it on 4th down on their own 35-yard line and don't make it. What on earth was Leach thinking?? It's now Ole Miss ball up by ten.....

Phil C

That was not the time to go for it. Sometimes you need to punt TT.

JR2004

That TD is on Leach, plain and simple. They're going to get blown out if they don't score on this next possession.

Texas gave everyone the blueprint on how to beat OU. Have a very good front four and some LB's that can cause havoc and you'll beat OU.

Tech right now is just getting manhandled up front. They're blitzing almost every play and Tech's line looks they have no idea what's going on.

I agree JR. Mississippi is starting to get control of this game. Already it is a three possession game for TT. They better come up with big plays on both offense and defense.

How athletic can their 350lb hogs be? OU is going to have the same problem with Florida's speed. The Gators run a 4-4 defense. Meaning everyone on the defense runs a 4.4! Speed kills

This one looks bad for TT. Unless there's a turnover, or two, and some 3-and-outs for Ole Miss, this one's over.

Phil C
01-02-2009, 05:06 PM
It looks bad. If Mississippi gets another td I don't see how TT can win even with their explosive offense which hasn't been too explosive this second half. :(

Yeah, TT's defense can't stop 'em. This game is over unless something drastic happens.:( They need a turnover right NOW! Ole Miss has a 1st and 10 from the Tech 11-yard line. Play some DEFENSE for a change.....

JR2004

Tech didn't just dodge a bullet on that one, they dodged a shell from an Abrams tank right there!

And then disaster strikes on the very next play for Tech...lol.

We get it! You're a Gator and an SEC fan!

Everyone here knows there's speed in the SEC. Everyone here also knows that Ole Miss is a pretty darn good team and it's not surprising to see them controlling this game.

Time is a factor too now. Texas teams were 3 - 0 in bowl games this year. Looks like now it is going to be 3 - 1 with one to go.

But no one would even consider that TT would lose or that OU could. I was abused by posting that the B12 does not play D. Mizzu, OK State and now TT could not stop a strong wind.

We knew Mississippi was good. After all they did beat Florida on the road this year.

Yeah, they are a good team........and they've turned it up several notches in their last 5 games, and this one. Ole Miss has played extremely well lately, and are one of the hottest teams around. Texas Tech has fallen off considerably after the Texas game. They just ain't the same team that played Texas a few weeks ago. I'd hazard a guess that they have fallen to probably the 5th best team in the Big 12 South.

Mississippi ahead 47 to 28 with about 4 minutes left. This game is decided. :(

I'm not quite sure who you've been reading, but many folks here are picking the Gators to win (myself included) and even though I didn't post a prediction here I felt that Ole Miss would win this one.

Mizzou never got better as the season went along so putting them in any discussion really is kinda pointless because you aren't going to find many folks defending them.

Okie State and Tech also took nosedives at the end of the year and it continued for both in their bowl games. I will say though that neither of them were beaten by cupcakes. Both were beaten by very, very good teams.

Absolutely, the Ole Miss game was the tipping point for the Gators this year. For the past month anytime I mentioned how weak B12 defenses are the reposnse was if SEC teams played b12 offenses they would be poorly ranked as well. now 2 of the top 4 have played and OK State gave up 565 yards to Ore. Mississippi will hang more tha that on TT. Add in special teams yards and it could be close to 700 yards. You simply cannot win championships without playing D.

TT has the 4th best O in the nation against UM's 14th ranked D

UM has the 32nd ranked O up against TT's 72nd ranked D.

OU is the best of the B12 at 51. That cannot simply be the result of playing great offenses.

now that big clown Carter acting like an idiot. lot of fight after the play is over, too bad not very much while the ball is in play

Freak show by Tech at the end of the game. Did not see one coach reprimand or speak to those guys for 15 yard penalties. Leach runs a loose ship, that behavior will usually show when a team loses on a big stage. To each his own - I prefer players showing great character instead of embarassing the univ.

Good job Snead!

I guess everyone forgot about Ole Miss almost beating Alabama this year.

Great team to look to next year, with the kid from Stephenville lightin it up!

I worked earlier and had to DVR the game. Just finished and I lol'd. I predicted an Ole Miss victory from the get go and most people called me crazy. Even my own Dad. Joke was on him. Awesome to see that idiot Carter acting like a big baby again. Watching Mike Leach walk around w/ the big "Duuuhhh" on his face for 90% of the game was great as well.

You stay classy Texas Tech!

I thought this might happen, and yeah I have earlier posts that say it. Ole Miss did beat Florida at the swamp and won at LSU and almost beat Alabama. Plus I still think the disappointment of being in the Cotton Bowl hurt Tech. Ole Miss was thrilled to be there. Its sad for Tech cause I think they could have beat anyone in the country in Lubbock.
