For me, obviously it was the birth of my daughter.

But if we're talking worldwide, I'd have to say the Presidential Election--not that it has anything to do with who won, but just the fact that one of the world's greatest if not THE greatest power is changing its leader. I think that gets overlooked a lot in any election year.

In sports it would have to be Michael Phelps winning 8 gold medals at the Summer Olympics and setting 7 world records while doing it.
