Houston we have a problem not too far from the top of the list!

It's just a ranking, but it's a bit funny to see who are numbers 4 and 5...lol.

Well when you have Liberty Hill beating Bridgeport, who beat Prosper, who beat Celina, who beat Liberty Hill...

At the very least one of them HAS to end up rated ahead of one of the teams that beat them

I'm sorry, but I can't help but notice your location, and then your sig. Are you from the same WEST I'm from? Because WEST doesn't have 8 championships in anything. And LH beat us in the 1st round, no need to talk smack about them.

Guys, I'm not from West! I now live in the west(Tx). Sorry for the confusion. I graduated from Celina.

As for the smack talk, I'm just returning the favor to LH mom for the last couple of years of her smack talk.

2. 1.92 - Gilmer
3. 1.78 - Prosper

Somebody please explain how this is possible since Prosper is a state champion and Gilmer is not.

They were in different divisions. Division II was a much more top-heavy division than DI this year. Gilmer only lost by 3 to Carthage, which is probably the reason they put Gilmer at #2. My guess is that Carthage would have beaten Prosper handily IF they would have played each other, at least that's the consensus.

Having seen both of them Carthage would've beaten Prosper by at least 2 TD's. How Celina came within 11 seconds of being shutout by them is still confounding.

Wouldn't it be cool if Gilmer played Prosper in the 2009 East Texas Football Classic!!!

It wouldn't shock me if Gilmer played either Prosper or Celina. Both of them had to travel on Zero Week last year to play teams that they crushed like bugs. Chances are good those 2 other teams will back out.

Yeah I know, PHS played Queeen City at home. I meant they had to go way out of the area to find a game.

It's not called that anymore. One of the hospitals in Tyler paid a lot of money to rename both the stadium and this game after it.

ORIGIN: The Tyler ISD contracted TITUS Sports Marketing in 2003 to sell naming rights to its football stadium and to create a season-opening event which would bring fans to the stadium and would promote the venue for playoff games. In 2004, Tyler-based Trinity Mother Frances Health System had its name on the venue and the East Texas Football Classic, later renamed the Trinity Mother Frances Football Classic, was born.

someone still sounds upset about 2006 imo

although hudini is 100% rebel/against all mods (and hudini does frequent the boards quite often, though he rarely posts), he must say LHPM doesn't talk trash rudely.

I heard, and it may just be a rumor, that Gilmer will play Jasper at Homer Bryce Stadium in Nacogdoches to open the '09 season. I haven't had a chance to ask Jeff or any of the other coaches about it, so is it true? If not, will they play in the Classic again? Against Jasper? Just curious.

I talked to a couple of the football players and they said Gilmer will not be playing in the Classic this year to start the season. They are expecting to play Emory Rains the first game but were not sure when or where.

They play Emory Rains in Week 1 in Emory. Who do they play in Week 0? I'll bet they'll schedule somebody. I guess it'll be like before where we have to find somebody to fill that game on the schedule. Why can't they just make a 2-year deal like most teams?

Van is to low at #33. They were 11-2 and lost in the 3rd round to state champ Prosper (& played pretty well in that game). Not sure how they end up behind Kaufman who lost to Canton who Van beat by a couple td's.

We may have to go out of state like we have had to do the last several years to find someone to play us, or find a good 4A program to play us (Longview would be cool). I just hope it is a good/tough opponent that would give the Buckeyes some competition. The Week O games over the last several years have not challenged the Buckeyes very much.

True. I hope they do find a tougher opponent than usual. Maybe we COULD schedule Prosper or Celina. Don't think we would play a team like Longview, though. The Lobos will probably the next 4A DI champ.

What teams out there have an opening for Week 0? It looks like Gilmer needs an opponent.
