But the Rice Owls are headed toward their first Bowl win since the 1954 Cotton Bowl(the 1953 season).

Incedentially, that game was better known for Dicky Moegle's 90 yd TD run in which Tommy Lewis of Alabama came off the bench and tackled Dicky. The refs awarded him a TD and the Owls went on to win the game.

Tonight's game has been much less eventful except for a butt-whipping by the Owls:)

GO OWLS - Willie Garley Jr (#32) from Victoria is a Soph on the Owls team. His dad and Mr 44 worked together on the railroad. Hope he continues to have success and hopefully gets a chance to play on Sunday afternoons

**the Oregon vs OK State game has been a good one.

11 minutes left in the game - OK St 31 Oregon 28

(Former Gobbler, Trooper Taylor is the receivers coach for OK State)

My boss went to the Alamobowl last night and didn't get home until 2:15am - he was dragging butt all day :D :D :D :D

As a '91 Rice Alum... who suffered through the Owls having the longest active losing streak in the nation in the late '80's it is nice to see!

I found out tonight that one of our kids at Madison is supposed to be going to Rice to play football next year. I'm glad he'll be going to a school that's not only doing well on the football field, but one that will, more importantly, give him a great degree.

Honestly, my four years at Rice were much more grueling than my four years in Med school. I was a small fish in a big pond while I was there, after being a big fish in a small pond in Orange, Texas but it's the best experience I ever had.
