Broncos owner Pat Bowlen on Tuesday relieved Mike Shanahan of his position as head coach and executive vice president of football operations. Said Bowlen in a statement: "After giving this careful consideration, I have concluded that a change in our football operations is in the best interests of the Denver Broncos."

I always wondered what made him so special to be immune to being fired.. I guess what ever it was has worn off

Shocking, but necessary given the Broncos' track record of the last decade.

Then you see how the Lions have been doing and those teams that still have their coaches (Cincy) and it doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

You guys think Jerry can go back on his word now on keeping Phillips to bring in his long-time pal Shanahan? I heard on the radio this morning that Shanahan replaced Phillips in Denver.

No. He won't.

You can say what you want about JJ, but those that have been around him including Big Tuna, have always said JJ is a man of his word. When he tells you something, he holds to it.
