Who are going to be some of the top QB's in 3A in 2009?
Names I have been hearing are the kid from Cuero, Silsbee, Gilmer and McCoy from Grahm.

McCoy will be going to school at the Wood next year. Heard it at the WhataBurger this afternoon, so it must be true.:D

Wylie's Matt Preston showed good poise, leadership, and ability in 08 I think he will be a great one next year.

Stump Godfrey will probably be in the mix, been starting for the past 2 years. finally in his senior year coming up, im expecting even more noise to be coming from him.

Case McCoy, im betting he will explode this year to get some more eyes on him and to pull him out of a brothers shadow.

Tyler Arndt, another 2 year returning qb, decent numbers, nice sized kid.

If the playoffs are any indication of how he will do next year, the Monahans QB (Titus) could be the best in the state in 09.

I don't know about the best, but the La Grange QB will be in the top 5 in passing yards next year. (regular season)

Celina has a kid that will be a Freshman in 09 that should be pretty good. I haven't met him yet but he is on his way here via Florida. His dad lives here. He is 6' 5" runs a 4.5 40. Should be fun to watch.:D

The Richeson (sp) kid from Lubbock Cooper is a pretty good sized kid (6'-3" 180 -190lbs.) and runs about a 4.5. He was fun to watch against Snyder in the playoffs.

Look for Rockdale to move Sanders to QB next season. He has played WR since his brief appearance his freshman year at QB. In his brief appearance at QB his freshman year he threw about 4 td passes (2 in his first game in about 2 minutes). He is a fierce competitor and adds a run threat to the offense as well.

I really like Godfrey, Arndt and Sanders from Rockdale as an athlete..haven't seen him play QB yet....Titus from Monahans is a beast...VERY underrated..

I think Bell from China Spring will progress also.

If he just has a decent supporting cast, Titus from Monahans will be awesome next season. I think Monahans would have beat Bridgeport by 3 scores at least if Titus hadnt have gotten hurt. He was doing anything he wanted with ease till he got hurt.

On the other hand, Sweetwater could have the greatest QB in the state, but nobody would ever know about it.:(
We would turn Dan Morino into an option, run, run, run, QB.

Carthage's replacement for Si Blackshire will be Anthony Morgan. He is not that big but he will be a good one for the next two seasons.

I know that's why I put it out there... I was beginning to think no one was going to comment on it... BWAH HA HA... I also forgot to put his weight. Last I heard he was right at 200 lbs...

But of course I never heard anything about the Smith kid from Carthage being recruited by Carthage. I mean after all he did come from California....;)

Having a great time and look forward to moving to Celina soon. Auntie is going to work at CP's gift shop on the square. It all seems so surreal...I gotta run Bobcat Bennie just showed up with a big stretch limo and we are all going to a real nice dinner, see ya'll soon.

Would Brownwood be that much of a step up from Graham? I know Brownwood is a great town with great tradition from way back when, but Graham is a nice town about the same size school with the same type of kids. Could you be much more successful in Brownwood than Graham? Or does Brownwood pay that much more?

Our QB at Madison won't make any lists for top QB's. I do like that our QB, Anthony S. Williams (The kid who started before him for 8 games was also named Anthony Williams), acted like a leader should act. I will say that I was impressed that a sophomore could get in the faces of a bunch of upperclassmen and have their respect in such a short amount of time. It was kinda nice to see someone step up and take control of the offense.

Off topic, but it's just too bad Fredericksburg has already taken the new nickname I had in mind for Graham.

The Graham "Billies"

I also thought of Graham "Crackers" but that might be construed as a slur these days.

That is really disillusioning to hear of Celina's recruiting process. :dispntd:

But Gilmer doesn't need any QBs for a while. After Stump goes out, hopefully on top, Gilmer will have Luke Turner for the next two years after that.

BTW, I'm kidding, Celina people. I know you can't help who moves into your district.

From what I have seen, Luke Turner is as good as if not better than Stump. I think he has a heck of a lot more poise and doesn't seem to get as rattled as Stump does at times. For a freshman, he is extremely impressive. There is no doubt the Buckeyes will have another stud at QB after Stump is gone, the big question is going to be --- what kind of supporting staff will Turner have around him in 2010?

Monahans QB will be great. He works hard and I expect him to have lots more responsibility at the line to be able to audible and hurt defenses his passing he will improve has a great arm just need to improve accuaracy. He has some great ones returning big TE and good receiver lost one good receiver but JV was loaded with young talent ready.

Josh Schneider from La Grange will stand out in the top 10 next year with his strong arm and a stable of outstanding wrs and a stud o line. If the Leps get their problems solved on defense they will go far next season.

Honestly I have watched Celina Football for about 15 years mostly on film and being they have been a running team they do such a good job with QB position throwing. They have all looked really good if a team gave them problems they start smoking you by the pass very good coaching staff there and it keeps going. There receivers run great routes also best play action team in High School dont believe me watch some of there film of playoff games a good one is the Garrison State title game class 2-A 2003 I believe. That game was something special.

I look for Silsbee QB Jeremy Johnson to have a fantastic senior year next season. This will be his third year as starting quarterback for the Tigers and his play in the spread offense just gets better and better with every game. In his first two years he has passed for 3,745 yards with 36 td's and has rushed for 1,655 yards and 22 td's. The '6"2 185 pounder with 4.5 speed will be quite possibly the best dual threat QB in the state next year.

I believe the Navasota fans would agree with me.

He can run well and pass efficiently. Not the fastest runner or best passer, but can do both well.

Yes, and La Grange was alternating the offensive series between Henderson the senior qb and Schneider a junior until week 10. Even with only half the reps on the field Schneider is ranked 15th in 3a for 2008. He will be back next year with his entire o line and 3 of his 4 wrs and will run the offense exclusively. Duke can go ahead and laugh but the Leps are going to be tough next year and Schneider and company will put up the numbers.

Titus did not have very good stats this year and I think thats what kept him from making the all state team. This kid is a huge play maker and if he can improve his accuracy he may possibly be the best qb in 3a next year. If the loboes would go spread he would be almost unstoppable. One thing that hurts him though is he carries the ball loosely. In many of the games I watched he would be holding the ball with one hand and not having it tucked into his body. If they face a team that tackles well and tries to strip the ball Titus may have some trouble. In my mind the best qb in 3a.

Tyler Arndt, from Cuero, will probably be one of the best QB's in all of Texas High School football next year. He is 6'4"ish and will probably be in the 220# range next year. He has a cannon for an arm and runs very well when he needs to. If he plays football and not baseball in college, I can see him being a top D1 QB and then a very good pro QB. Believe me, Tyler has all the tools to be a great one. ;)

Wow, I can hardly wait until next August when the Leps host Cuero in their second scrimmage. It will be interesting to see Arndt and Schneider sharing the field. There should be some great passing in this scrimmage.

With the freshman, soph next year, sensation at running back we have, it should be interesting to see how much the offense is geared toward him. Some of the "old timers" are saying he will be the best RB to come out of Cuero, and we have had some REALLY good ones.

I know that the kid is good but so was Robert Strait. Strait is considered one of the best high school football players in Texas history. While playing at Cuero High School from 1985-88, Strait rushed for 8,411 yards on a state-record 1,131 carries and scored 841 points. He had 41 games with more than 100 yards rushing for his career, with was then second to Emmitt Smith's national record of 45 games and was the Texas state record until Wes Danaher broke the record in 1995 with 43 100-yard games. In 1987 Strait scored 372 points, which is second in Texas football history only to Ken Hall (395 points in 1953), while Cuero High won the 3A state championship.
I got the info from Wikipedia.

One thing that hurts him though is he carries the ball loosely. In many of the games I watched he would be holding the ball with one hand and not having it tucked into his body. If they face a team that tackles well and tries to strip the ball Titus may have some trouble. In my mind the best qb in 3a.

Please dont say Spread that is bad word for Loboes. We do good enough job spreading the ball at times when needed but to go to this full time no way our kids are not made for this our coaches are good in what they do. Dont want them to be like all other spread converted west texas teams lost very lost. Monahans is not like most running teams we can pass and teach this also. Can use many formations and pass and run this is what we like to do can even go shotgun some and do it well this is what Loboes like to do.

Jackson broke Strait's rushing yardage and rushing td records starting only half of the games this year. He pretty much got spot playing time in the predistrict schedule. He also missed the 2nd half against somerset, the sealy, and la feria playoff games. That's a lot of time missed to still break his records.

Robert Stait was one of the best hs rb's of all time, so far all we know is Trent Jackson has the stats to compare, guess we'll see what he does the next 3 years to prove himself.

but, back to the topic, Tyler Arndt will probably be playing at OU

I didnt say the loboes would be good at it but Titus would be almost unstoppable because he could run all over the defense. And I dont think the coaches the Loboes have now could run a spread offense. The loboes have done pretty decent running the wing t. The spread is not their strong point. The monahans coaches went into spread at the wrong times during a few games this season. I almost died when they went shotgun against Greenwood 5 yards away from the endzone.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. According to the numbers provided, Stump Godfrey would be #1 on the list. I also know Si'Darius Blackshire would be on that list with similar numbers to Godfrey. Where did this list come from?

How is this determined because Cole Hubble would be 9th if it was by total passing yards. Plus he prolly had more rushing yards than a lot of em.
