Newton has got to be considered the best...
Only 13 points so far?
Sinton is good, but Newton is good, maybe great, too. cts, thanks for your recognition. :)

I would have to mention the "Seawall Defense" from Port Isabel. I know some people think our dist. is weak, but the way they are playin' right now I put them on any offense of the state. (and they just might be able to prove that, if not this year for sure next year)

sorry angel but PI cannot even be mentioned with the best defenses in the state...and remember honey, you keep talking about speed, you are talking about RGV speed. and i know all about the RGV, i am originally from there, so only speed that is for sure down there is the ,,,,Make a run for the Border speed.....

newton and sinton are both looking pretty tough. i honestly couldnt tell you which one was better, but i know i wouldn't want to be playing against either one of those teams. newton has four shutouts already (one was against bridge city... ouch) and has only allowed 13 points. sinton is quick on quick and they arent afraid to hit. they've only allowed 33 points (that is 20 more than newton), but no team has hung more than 7 points on those blackshirts and they've played some really tough teams. cuero, rice consolidated and gregory-portland aren't exactly walks in the park.

I was checking out Defenses that have allowed less than 50 points this year and I found 8, 2 from each region.

1. Newton 13pts
2. LaVernia 30pts
3. Sinton 33pts
4. Dangerfield 36pts
5. Gainesville 40pts
6. Jasper 43pts
7. Perryton 44pts
8. Midland Greenwood 49pts

Talkin bout the best defenses, I'll have to say Carthage. Their defense is real real decent.

I would have to say the " WOSSNESS DEFENSE " also known as the Marlin defense. Because, at the Ennis game Ennis controlled the ball the whole 3rd quarter with 26 plays to Marlin's 1 but Ennis still didnt score. I think they have the ability to stop any offense !!! Their FreeSafety that game had 19, let me say that again 19 tackles 1 interception for a TD

I was skeptical about Port Isabel's speed at first.....but it's for real. YOU WON'T KNOW UNTIL YOU GO AND SEE IT FOR YOURSELF..........and please, take back the running to the border comment, it was NOT COOL!!!!!!!!!!

Gainesville's DEFENSE has only really given up 27 points.. the others came off a punt return, and an interception return..

KempWHAT R U THINKIN? Obviously your not if u think that GODLEY has a good defense? They got beat 52-0 by DIAMOND HILL and CARTER RIVERSIDE who had a 29 game losing streak. But I guess is entitled to their own retarded opinion.

heck yeah ive run for the border,,, why is that uncalled for. that was a great play on words, the taco bell commercial, and 66 who cares what you think, go take some gerital or something you goofy sucker, shouldnt you be at whataburger drinking coffee with all the other old fogies, quarter miler speed good, football speed i dont think so, i saw him yall play against los fresnos, yes los fresnos, and it was a good game of two not so bueno teams. im down there once a month right across the bridge from pi so i catch alot of games, 3 a month up north and 1 down there, i pick the valley games i go to, and yes one of the biggest jokes in the valley is their ancient coaching tactics. the new guy at pi is doing a great job, solely because he is not a valley guy who will never leave like alot of those coaches, so he is doing a great job with a mediocre bunch, yall WILL NOT go far in the playoffs, and by that i mean yall will not win a region 4 championship.

What about Forney...they're offense isnt as strong as it has been in recent years, but could be one of their best defenses in a while...they could be dangerous come playoff time

Ok maroonpunt, guess I owe you an apology, since you were referencing the taco bell commercial. But, please do me a favor and state it a little clearer next time, it really did sound kind of racist. Guess I'm just over-reacting to some of the jerks I've seen on here. You'll just have to forgive me bubba, I'm too big to spank! :D :D :D

Hey MaroonPunt.....why you hatin' on us?

Tarpon fans and players haven't done a thing to you, yet you feel like you have to bash us for no apparent reason. What's up with that?

Sinton is good, but Newton is good, maybe great, too. cts, thanks for your recognition. :) I totally agree. Newton has a very good defense. Maybe even great. They are a scrappy team. And maybe now that Jasper beat them 45-20, maybe Jasper will start getting some recognition for having an offense?

Sinton's 'D' is one of the state's best....giving up only about one score a game
