Somebody has to pay for the stadium so they can pay the players!

At this point, I don't know where else Manny would go unless he wants to play for the Nationals. I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see Manny to the Yankees next week.

Remember that salary is not that much since it is spread over 8 years. It only averages $21,250,000 a year.

Actually, for the final contract, they threw in an extra 10 million.

8 years, $180 million, no opt-out clause, full no-trade clause.

Gah this sucks. Sabathia, Burnett, AND Tex to the hated Yankees. The only comfort I take in this is that Detroit had a similar off season last year and sucked. I'm hoping for the same.

The Yankees started shelling out megabucks for free agents in 2001. They haven't won a championship since. Leading up to that, they won four out of five championships with homegrown talent.

They had better hang on to Joba, Hughes, and Cano.

I bet Manny is wearing the pinstripes too by next week.

Yankees cleared 80 million and have used around 50, so they still have 30 million to work with if they going to have the same salaries like last year.

baseball needs a salary cap...the yankees and red sox's payroll compared to the rest of baseball is ridiculous....the funny thing is neither of them won their division last year, go rays!
