I think that there was some very, very brief talk about it as a bargaining chip when the Cowboys were trying to find land for a new stadium...I think it was mentioned more as a threat against Dallas than a promise to Arlington. Jerry Jones is an astute businessman, and you don't change the name of a product that is recognized as the best (as in marketing, not as in best team) in the world in its class.

Agreed...I don't care for Jones...but he is a brilliant business man. You don't go changing the name of a product that sells as do the Cowboys.

In that case, there would be the Meadowlands Giants, the Virginia Redskins, and a bunch of others who have migrated into the growth areas of their respective franchise base cities. No way will Jerry Jones ever allow a multi-billion dollar franchise label to change---the Dallas Cowboys are the numero uno name in sports merchandising.
