Plainview school board accepts resignation of head football coach/athletic director

The Plainview school board voted 6-0 to accept the resignation of head football coach and athletic director Marty McClintock during its monthly meeting Thursday night.
Brandon Brownlee was absent.
According to a statement read by the district's lawyer, Rudd Owen, McClintock immediately will be placed on adminstrative leave through June 30, 2009 and he will receive full benefits from his existing contract through that date.
He then will receive a payout of $100,000, which represents 58 percent of his salary, in two lump sums for the final two years of his contract.
Over his 10-season tenure at PHS, McClintock had an overall record of 62-49. The Bulldogs made it to the playoffs five times under the coach's leadership.
