Plainview school board accepts resignation of head football coach/athletic director
Published: Thursday, December 18, 2008 9:14 PM CST
The Plainview school board voted 6-0 to accept the resignation of head football coach and athletic director Marty McClintock during its monthly meeting Thursday night.

Brandon Brownlee was absent.

According to a statement read by the district's lawyer, Rudd Owen, McClintock immediately will be placed on adminstrative leave through June 30, 2009 and he will receive full benefits from his existing contract through that date.

He then will receive a payout of $100,000, which represents 58 percent of his salary, in two lump sums for the final two years of his contract.

Over his 10-season tenure at PHS, McClintock had an overall record of 62-49. The Bulldogs made it to the playoffs five times under the coach's leadership.

The Herald will have a full story in its Friday edition

Basketball is king in Plainview, and probobly always will be. And they are dang good at it. It'll be hard for any football coach to go there and install a solid program long term.

Yea its been that way for a while, but the boys program was also real good years back.
Theyve had a few good football teams, but its been a roller coaster ride for the most part.

They have some athletes. Have some problems too. Remember they had a great team in 2001. Great backs .

What's their enrollment? Seems like most 4A West Texas schools are ticketed for 3A eventually.

I think it holds steady between 1500-1700. They used to bounce back and fourth from 5A to 4A.

Crap...who wouldn't take that deal. Go on Administrative leave receive all your pay. Then, on June 30th receive a $100,000. Sounds like gravy to me!
