Wes Wood ran the spread like a college QB.. I'm sure he'll be doing it on Saturday in a couple of years. We are proud of Wes, and he's the first to say that he'll take that big gold trophy over breaking Graham Herrell's TD record.

One disappointment to all of us in Muleshoe was that his cousin #44 Lane Wood, All-State 1st team last year at Linebacker, didn't make the AP list this year, except for honorable mention at LB. Darned if I can understand. it. his rushing and receiving racked up over 2000 yards of total offense. The folks at Clyde, Pilot Point, and Kirbyville know who broke their back in the playoffs.. it was #44. and he was a beast at LB. I guess this AP team was based strictly on numbers; the LB with the most tackles makes All-State, and the RB with the most rushing yards makes the team.

I'd venture that Lane fares better in the coaches' all-star team.

Go Mules. Always great to see a Panhandle team win a championship. Had a few friends from there at ACU. I was very tempted to apply for a job there this last year - Kinda wish I would have now.
