I searched Corsicana and apparently they're having a lot of playoff games there because of a new stadium and location which makes sense here. Big article in the Corsicana paper about the stadiums success.

I should know something for sure in a bit and post it if no one else finds out for sure before....

i really hope its on friday so i can see as many games as possible, but something tells me LH would reall prefer Saturday

i saw the giddings/carthage place/date on smoaky as well--wonder if they would do a double header?

i'd still rather have it in texas stadium

I have a son who's a player and doesn't know yet but sometimes you need to confirm stadium availability unless it is agreed on before the fact.

I personally think this game deserves to be played in Texas Stadium. It is a Big Game matching last years 2 state champs. This is the last year for Texas Stadium.

Texas Stadium
193 miles from LH
40 miles from Celina

I don't think this will fly.

bigdaddy
12-07-2008, 10:33 AM
Right on !!
That would be GREAT however for past State Championship games ie. Mart the game was 1 1/2 - 2 hours behind because of earlier games. That's tough on the Team and Coaches due to timing, feeding the boys and just routine.

Like I said where ever when ever....

I say they just need to flip for home and home. If we win Texas Stadium, if LH wins waco.

Mileage doesn't or shouldn't really matter. It's just really COOL for ALL the players to have the opportunity and memories of playing at Texas Stadium especially since no mas after this year.

A lot of history there. Put me in Coach !!

Both are very comparable.

Once the ball is kicked off both LH and Celina will get after it.

Anywhere but TS. That place 'was' great for Pro games but really takes the high school feel away from a playoff game. Any stadium that is too large does that but to play it within the mostly covered cavern like TS just takes so much of the atmosphere away...and sooo many empty seats...

A good mid sized stadium that is open and allows the stars to shine on the players is a great venue, large enough to seat 10k-12k on each side.

Floyd Casey is a little large for my taste.

Probably around 20-22k total attendance is my not so educated guess. I would rather see a packed stadium vs a 1/3 filled stadium, but I do not have loyalties to either program.

I just like the feel of a full stadium, the crowd noise is so intense when everyone is sitting tightly together, fans are in unison when chanting "defense, defense...", high school football at it's best. If there was a Tyler Rose Stadium in Hillsboro it would be great.

What was the LE/Robinson game like at Ford a couple of years ago? Anyone know how full they got it? When RC played Denison there in the first round it was a nice facility but still too big, I realize it was a first round game but 45,000 seats is a lot of room.

Food for thought.

Royse City Stadium holds 21000. At the Kaufman/Celina game the Celina side was all but full. Kaufman side was 3/4 full. Cars were still showing up and backed up on the highway until the end of the 1st quarter.

LH brings a huge crowd as does Celina but the difference is, and I don't know about LH but Celina has a following that encompasses Texas and crosses state lines. ...This game has been anticipated for a couple years.....12000 each side just aint gonna get it folks

OrangeChamps
12-07-2008, 12:20 PM
21,000? Where did you get that info, b/c it's not correct. Texas Bob is showing 6,500.

This if from the Royce City Herald Banner, http://www.roysecityheraldbanner.com/local/local_story_331142233.html

"Company is coming. Really, a lot of company is coming...

If they fill Royse City ISD Stadium AT EVERY GAME, there could be 21,000 guests here on Friday and Saturday afternoons."

The Night of the Ennis/WOS, Celina/Mart game there was around 30,000 fans. The entire lower section was close to full. It was an amazing environment. There will be a lot of fans here but there isn't going to be that many people. My guess is 18k - 22k.

Btw, who cares where we play? At kickoff it will matter zero.

Here's it from a player's prospective: We're all worked up about when and where and 2 starters for the Bobcats aren't in the least bit concerned about when and where they just know they're going to show up and play BOBCAT FOOTBALL!!

Moral of the story we must be patient and hopefully we'll know something later today because even the players don't know at this point>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I would get there early but there will be room to spare. There is also a lot of room to stand as the field and stands are in a bowl. The press box is at ground level and you can stand anywhere going around the entire stadium.

Burnet isn't playing, you don't need 20,000 seats for their fans alone.

http://img353.imageshack.us/img353/3553/1044qa5.jpg

You can see the people standing. There is also grass on either side of the bleachers on both side and going around the entire stadium. Not sure if they will let fans sit there though

I think Celina would have chosen Texas Stadium or something closer to home if they won the toss. I know Floyd Casey was taken at 2:00 on Saturday and WISD at 7:30 so maybe both of those stadiums said no to them playing there.

Texas Stadium was also full on Saturday and I think there is a game there Friday night I think.

LH and Celina were just to slow maybe in contacting the facilities. They should of had this arranged a few weeks ago.

I know we will fill up the visitors side with Celina fans and i know LH will fill there side up so then you got people just coming to watch from other places. It will be packed.

RCISD only seats 6500. MISD seats 8,000 split 4500-3500. Also there is room for hundreds to stand if need be and they might allow fans to sit in the grass

Celina Enrollment - 479
LH Enrollment - 704
So if every student comes thats about 1100 since we can't count players.

LH Population as of 2000 - 1,409
Celina - 1,861
We will account for growth and count students twice and add 2,000 per town.

So thats 7270 between the two towns with overly exaggerated growth.

Lets add 50 for downlow members

The exact attendance will be 7320. Plenty of room to spare

Celina city limits pop last year was over 3500. That doesn't include the unincorporated areas of the school district.

past state championship attendance has hit over 12000 for a Celina game in Texas stadium. This one smacks of rivalry and importance so I'll give a conservative 9-10k prediction with decent weather.

OldBison75
12-09-2008, 11:41 PM
I guarantee you that the stadium will be packed. In last years quarterfinals in Temple between LH and Navasota there were over 10,000 present and LH side had about 6000 of those. Celina always has 5000-6000 fans. Plus, there will be a huge contingent of fans that want to watch the two best teams from last year meet. This will be a crowd approaching 12,000 if not more.

If the stadium management is preparing for less that 10,000, they are gonna be shocked. Also, please tell the concessions people to be ready for huge sales. Don't run out of coffee and hot chocolate.

I know of at least 20 people from Navasota that are making plans to attend the game.

Emerson1
12-10-2008, 12:18 AM
It's supposed to be 71*! Celina and LH must have some wimpy fans if they need coffee and hot chocolate

Celina has a very strong following with many fans in the North Texas area SO that being said it should be very full with standing room around the field too especially with 2 GREAT teams Playing.

But it should be a GREAT environment with alot of noise and excitement. WOW can't wait !!!
