Corsicana is certainly a possibility. The new stadium they opened in 2006 is very nice. It seats 10,000, has a video scoreboard, and is centrally located.

Finally got released after a 2 month stint in County (Collin) - I was perfect on my probation for 8 years, and I thought my PO would give me a break while my car was in the shop... I guess not... It should be illegal to force a man over 80 to sit in that cold - cold facility with all those criminals for 2 months. I'm no threat to anyone...

Anyway, I apparently missed a lot while I was locked up. I do have to say that I am surprised that my beloved ORANGE is still in the hunt. But since we are, I'm glad we get to play LH. Those guys are good. It will be a pleasure watching the LH panthers lose. This will be my first Celina game to watch / be at in a long time. I'm really glad it will be LH. I remember how they barely squeaked by us 2 years ago at State. I will love watching LH lose.

I'm glad it's LH too! Their fans, or at least the ones I've met are a class act, and so are their kids. Two smash mouth offenses who like to pound it down your throat, and two stingy defenses who don't like to give up anything. Not to mention it's round two of a great title game from 06. This game has all the markings to be an all time classic!

Theres not but 8 of us left starting this weekend. They look at their matchup in the paper and they cant help but see who will be next. The whole team knew that Celina won last night, theres nothing wrong with that since we played first. Just seemed very odd the way they kept asking "Celina?".

Oh well, it is going to be a great week and a better game. Cant wait for this one.

Oh, grow a pair.

Since when has this thread been filled with people who are afraid to say they look forward to beating another team. Don't know who you are - probably a great person - but I will never shy away from saying I want to win, or that I want another team to lose. Why won't you? Don't you want LH to lose? I do. I would not be a BOBCAT fan if I didn't.

PS - I HATE Mack Brown and the longhorns! I'm glad OU has put up 60+ in this Big XII Championship game. I want OU to go to the BCS #1 game. AND I want Celina to go to the 3A State game too - and NOT liberty hill. I ain't too much of a scardy-cat to say it.

That's cool I guess. No hard feelings then when I say I look forward to LH losing. If it doesn't happen then the vision I have in my head of all those LH fans walking slowly to their cars with their heads down won't be realized, but until then I revel in the thought of it, and I want to talk about it... bask in it too.

The ONLY problem I've got with this Corsicana thing is that it is two weeks till Christmas, were going to be a stones throw from that mega outlet in Moundsville and we have time to get there early on Saturday. This will be the only game the entire year the lovely bride will want to leave early, hours and hours early, for a game. And we will still be late because of the shopping in the next town over. I cant win. BUT THE BOBCATS SURE CAN. GO CELINA.

Seen the Slot -t twice...might have a chance
but all that have seen it 1,2 or 3 times...still won't make a difference! They have all lost!

Pray that all players are on the A game b/c that is what this is...the A game!

they hopefully will pick a big stadium...10000 wont cut it. This game is going to create a huge crowd. Sort of like an earlier version and a smaller scale of Trinity Southlake in the first round a couple years ago. There there was over 50000. and after the game most left instead of sticking around. It took 2 hours to get in the stadium from 35 to the parking lot

This is absolutely what it's all about. I can't think of a better opponent I'd rather face. This game should draw a rather large crowd, and it's going to get loud and rowdy. Just the way I like it! :D It'll be interesting to see how ole Coach Ford goes about handling the vaunted slot-t his second time around. I'm sure it's weighed heavy on his mind since that fateful day back in 2006....or maybe it's just weighed heavy on mine. I'm glad it's on saturday, cause that means I'll be there. And I'm bringing one of my friends from missouri to it for his first taste of Texas High School Football!!! Could there be a better first time experience for him? I think not! we went to our "sources" (everybody has them, right?)..here's what we found out (for the 2 cents its worth)...

*Celina absolutely will NOT play at Floyd Casey
*LH wants nothing to do with Texas Stadium (thank god, their broadcast facilities are horrible)
*The game will be played on SATURDAY DAY (something like a 2 p.m. or 5 p.m. kickoff)
*IF they flipped home-and-home, Celina would use Texas Stadium; Lib Hill would use Round Rock ISD or Temple (2 awesome facilities)

well, they are both defending champs

although LH will be favored, Celina has the ability to send the panthers home a week early

matchups between defending champs are rare, although nowhere near as rare now that there are two divisions

i believe celina will become the first to do it twice

Hmmm...I seem to remember an undefeated Celina team showing up for a State Championship game against a 2 or 3 loss Liberty Hill. And ... somehow Liberty Hill managed to win.

I think Liberty Hill was playing really well down the stretch.

But of course this is not a State Championship game. :(

Yeah and what a game that was! And just because Celina has 3 losses this year doesn't mean they're not going to play lights out. Any Liberty Hill fan would tell you that too. The panthers will obviously be the favorite, but when you have a game like this, with two defending state champs, one seeking revenge of a loss that still leaves a sour taste in the mouth, who knows what will happen. Com'on saturday!

I think our offense is very similar to the 06 team. Not much difference in our team from that 06 season. I think overall we are better than in 06 but not as good as 07. But we are getting better everyweek in the playoffs and we are starting to roll like last year again.

I personally look for a whole lot quieter of a week from both sides. Each team respects the other team more than most any other team in the State of Texas, there isn't much to discuss in my opinion. I do know that I respect Celina more than any other program in the state. When you think of football played right, you think of those boys from Celina, they have been doing it for years up there. Here in Abilene, there's a buddy of mine that graduated from Crawford and was on the '04 team I believe that broke Celina's streak. Last week at lunch I was asked who LH plays if we win again and I said we will play Celina. And the next hour was composed of me and him explaining to the other 10 guys at the table that they haven't seen football and tradition till they see Celina play. None of them understood because they graduated from "big" schools that are much better and greater:rolleyes: But in the end, they were won over by all the stories that the 2 of us had about Celina. I personally want to thank our boys in LH for whooping those Bulls last night and giving us fans the chance to watch these 2 teams duke it out again. May the best team win!

Both teams know each other inside and out. There's zero secrets in this game. I'm just worried about when and where Celina will pull out that triple reverse pass like they did in 2006:eek: Besides that, it's going to come down to execution. Both teams "know" what to do, but will they actually "do" it every stinkin' play? If you take one play off in this game, it could be 6 points. I look for Celina to loosen up that 10-1 or 5-5 in this game. I still think they will stack the middle of the line and have that LB right over the nose tackle like in 2006, but I look for the safeties and corners to play a little further back to prevent the long run. It might only be a yard or two further off the line than last, but the only thing that we hurt them with in '06 was the long runs around the end. If they can contain and pick the rights times to be a little more conservative and not as aggressive every single play than we will have some serious work cut out for us. In 2006 Celina showed what every team has done in the past 4 years, be over aggressive. If you are going to be overly aggressive each and every play we are going to capitalize on that. If Celina loosens up that D just a little, and contains the outside better, forcing us to run right at them, it will be a long night.

Nope, air is clear and cold in Alaska. Keeps the thinking sharp.

But I just see this pretty open minded. I see that nasty T offense in Alaska all the time. It works but Soldotna Alaska runs it far better than LH. But like LH they got a 29 streak going and already secured a 3 peat. They fake so well the ref will call the ball down and its not there its on the other sideof the field in the end zone.

I truly think the streak will end Saturday....no big score prediction, if LH puts the ball on the ground their traditional 3 times it will create the opportunity.

I also dont think this group of LH running backs is nearly as explosive as 06. You could never find a group like that again all in the same backfiels again. They were very special.

Good Posts. This will be an awesome game. Established programs and big hearts. This game should be close, and anyone who can assume a victory at this point is either a homer or someone who hasn't seen both teams play.

I really figure on this being a defensive showcase. Mistakes will be a killer. Turnovers, missed tackles and blocks, and other blown fundamentals should predict the winner.

Really hope for a safe, good sportsmanship game like in '06.

I would be careful judging our back field or our offense by 1 game two years ago. Our running game was more explosive last year than in 06. This year it may be just a tad less explosive than in 06 but there are plenty of big plays still happening. Also I think according to the stats our defense is much better particularly against the run this year than in 06.

Thomas Perrin #10 the QB in '06 went to Angelo State to play football and is now playing Baseball at Ranger JC.

Brent Bode, #5 the Tailback walked onto Sam Houston and hurt himself early in the year this year and did not play.

A packed house makes for a much better venue than a huge venue only half full. So I'm excited. I can't wait to see this sucker overflowing with Orange and Purple.

I think the backfield has turned out to be equal contributors at this point in the year. In the Past 2 years the FB (Allman) and TB (Bode 06'/Gonzo 07') carried 75% of the offense...with the HB (Post 06'/Gavin 07') and QB's (Perrin 06'/Fickle 07') getting the other 25% of the work done.

With that said most of the Defenses would try and nullify the FB and TB...and easier task than having to prep to stop all 4 backs.

This year, as the weeks have ran by, all 4 backs are contributing equally. This Saturday was a prime example of that. I don't think a team in the 3A let alone the state can boast that kind of diversity. I used the word diversity about the LH offense that runs 95% of the time...ha.

The Bobcat D will have to play their best game all year if they want to have a chance to win.

I worry about that Celina Defense giving us trouble with their schemes. But, I think Celina's offense trying to establish the run is going to play right into our hands. Both Celina running-backs run REAL hard, if our boys tackle like they normally do we will be just fine in that department. With that in mind, the play action pass might be open at times for Celina, and you can bet they are going to try to capitalize on that moment when it arises.

All in all, I would not be surprised if this game is 14-14 at half, maybe even 10-7 in someone's favor.

Celina started the year a little suspect this year with the passing game but the last 6-8 games it has really come on well and is helping our offensive game plan tremendously.

After listening to the LH/BP game last night, especially the first half, Coach Elliott will be working this into the game plan quite often I would imagine.

Celina won't abandon the run like Bridgeport did. As long as Celina try's to establish the run, our Defense will keep us in the game. Heck, I'm VERY pleased with our defensive secondary shutting out the Bulls in the second half. I don't think Celina will throw a wide open passing attack at us like Bridgeport did.

Will the Bobcats be running a 5-wide shotgun package? If not, I don't see them altering their offensive scheme based on the first half of last night's game, especially since we adjusted and shut Bridgeport out in the second half. I envision Celina working in some play-action, but nothing too different than what they've done all year. Team's like Celina and Liberty Hill don't make it this far and then start changing what they do. If they resort to a Bridgeport-style passing attack, it's because the run isn't working.

Liberty Hill must watch for the onsides kick from Celina. They will do what ever it takes to win the this game. I believe they will run their offense and not abandon anything but it is not above Celina to run trick plays if need be. It is just part of the game to them. Celina also views a kickoff as a chance to get the ball back not just kick it off to the other team. I do think Celina will find running the ball extreamly tough against our defense.

Well this year I think LH depends on a balanced attack from the O backs more than the previous 2 years. That means more room for mistakes in assignments etc. This Celina offense may be better than the 06 offense in some regards. In 06 we did not pass consistently enough although we did have some good games. That game was mostly on the ground. We can run and throw better this year
as we have more weapons with hands etc. Cody has gotten a couple of good games going and if he has time can hit his receivers. We will be a litte more unpredictable than in 06 and that is a promise. Defensively we are strong where we were weak in 06 our linebacking corp. We had been injured bad during the season which is why Caleb started the game as a freshman. Should make a difference this year as well.

P1 and D11 you are correct. Celina has not hired Mike Leach to come coach the team after the first half of last nights game or anything. Celina will still keep running the ball as they always do just like you do but we will mix some pass plays, maybe a few more than normal cause you gotta admit you did not defense them well in the first half. The second half you did a much better job but the first half was an offensive festival for both teams.

I dont think we will have our 5th 50 point game in the playoffs this year dang it.

As to the notion of Celina abandoning the run, forget it. They wont do it and everyone in LH knows it. And we will move the ball on LH just as we did in 06. And just like we wont abandon our gameplan, LH wont abandon what they do, and they'll move the ball on us. It's gonna be a tough tough grinding 4 quarters where the two defenses will make some huge stops and both offenses will just try to wear the opposing D down and make a big play! Gonna be a quick game, and not a whole lot of scoring going on, at least not that I see.

In my opinion daddy d, and from what I've been able to see. We ran more shotgun my senior year in 2004 when we had John Clark at quarterback. He was by far the fastest, and had one of the better arms of any Celina qb, except for Herron maybe back in the day. You will see some shotgun from us though.

I always find it funny that peoply say they need to watch out for the onsides kick from Celina. I think you can count on one hand the number of times Celina has kicked the ball downfield on kickoffs this year and thats lots of kickoffs so far. Its not "you better be ready for it" rather it is that is what is going to happen. Have your returners on the 35-40 and you will be in good shape.

That's exactly what I remember. Very traditional type offense that uses the run to set up play action and the intermediate passing game.

With that said, LH's run defense is very stout this year. It will be interesting to see how the two bruiser RB's match up against our front 7.

As everyone knows, Celina has been in the state championship game the last 3 years in a row, winning 2 of them and losing only the LH game 2 years ago on a last second field goal. I have said this many times and will say it again: anyone who saw that game knows it could have gone either way. We had our chances and didn't execute, they had their chance and did. I have congratulated them many times. Since that nail biter of a game though, the consensus is that Liberty Hill is the better team. Last year we were both undefeated state champs, yet they were always ranked higher. This year, we lost 3 and they are still undefeated, so I understand it a little more. Still, here we both are again in the final 4 and here is my question: why did everyone consider them better last year (we will never know) and why is everyone so sure they are better this year? I AM NOT SAYING THEY ARE NOT! I would just like to see an intelligent discussion versus wild, unfounded opinions. If you think they will beat us by 17 points, why?

I posted something like this before the season started and got only one reply (from TXbroadcaster I believe).

As far as last year, we were worlds better than 2006 and no team ever challenged us. That could be a reason. But that's a really dead horse and IMO shouldn't be brought up in this thread because this thread is about this year, plain and simple.

And I don't think any team is favored in this one. And quite frankly, who cares if one team is favored over the other? It doesn't matter one bit. The truth will be told Saturday and all questions will be answered then.

I'll have more to say later in the week, but everyone is familiar with these two teams. We all know what they do well. It's going to be two great offenses against two great defenses. While their paths to this game might not be the same, they're both here, as many thought they would be when realignment came out last February.

Two years ago, there was an unknown element to this game which provided a lot of chatter. It was the great slot-T offense against the mighty 10-1 defense, and everyone had their reasons as to which unit had the upper hand. It was Celina's first year in 3A and Liberty Hill's first title game. Since then, both have gone on to win a title and establish themselves as two of the most dominant 3A programs in the state right now. This is a huge match up, but it just doesn't have the same feel as playing a new opponent, like a Bridgeport or Sweetwater.

I think we'll win, of course, and to avoid saying all I have to say tonight, I'll save my reasoning for a later post...

How about your offense? How would you compare this year's O with the 06 team?

i would also compare our offense to that of 2006's offense. of course McCain is not as fast as Bode and has less great stats, but he still runs hard. Boyd is way faster than Post, and has great stats. and Fickle(little) although not as much of a bull as Allman is more like a tasmanian devil that is quick, crazy and runs hard. Fickle(big) is not as fast as Perrin but runs just as hard and is more of a passing threat with his accuracy. but our offensive line is twice as good as it was two years ago. even our "recievers" are twice as good.

All the smack talk about blood on uniforms is REDICULOUS.. This is al great matchup of 2 great Teams so wannabe fan/players won't matter, smack talk and silly analogies won't matter come Sat!

It's the REAL PLAYERS that will make the difference on the field not on line !!!

That settles it. Lock the thread and cease all discussions. It has no bearing on the game. Apparently this game will be decided by the players, and not us. That's too bad. I had some good analogies that I think would have given LH the victory.

So, Liberty Hill has a 19.23% chance of not losing by 4. :D

but what percentage do yall have of not losing by 6 or 7. lol

ratings and polls do not mean a thing. giddings two years ago was number one all season but did nothing against us. gilmer last year was ranked very high all season but did nothing against us. bridgeport supposedly had the best passing offense and was ranked very high but could not stop our O, and after half time could not beat our D. so this shows that polls have nothing to do with the actuall game.

Question for the Bobcats:

How many 2008 starters were starters or had significant during the 2006 season & our last matchup?

Lavey, Charley, Troy. Andy Rose? Austin Carey?

I'm certain on the first 3, 50/50 on Rose, and about 10% sure on Carey.

Other than the response from coachkiss (what a fruity handle) I'm surprised they didn't just say..."some or a few"

If you last name is Kiss or you are a huge Kiss fan then I understand and apologize for the shot...and I mean it.

I've used it for the past 10-12 years on message boards. Nothing fruity about it. As some on here can attest, I'm not that type, unless I have the wife and four kids to throw off the scent.

I was not surprised by them not stopping your running game. They scrimmaged us and matt238 then said they had trouble stopping the run. They just did not have any great ground games to play against until late in the playoffs. And still they almost won. It was a good hard fought game. My hat's off to the
Bridgeport bulls. Great season.
