Texas quarterback Colt McCoy found himself on the all-Big 12's second team on Thursday, as named by the Associated Press — a day after the same voters chose him as the conference's offensive player of the year.

Among the 20 media members who vote on the AP team, McCoy received more first-place votes than first-teamer Sam Bradford of Oklahoma — 10 to 9 — at quarterback. But Bradford edged McCoy by one point overall for all-conference because McCoy was left off three ballots. Texas Tech's Graham Harrell received four points.

Defensive end Brian Orakpo was Texas' only first-team selection on the AP list. He was one of three unanimous picks and also was the league's defensive player of the year.

The Big 12 coaches this week had a similar discrepancy on their all-conference voting. The coaches chose Oklahoma's Jon Cooper as the offensive lineman of the year but didn't put him on their first team.

It makes sense to me... Most people hear or read "QB" and think of great passers... though I believe Colt is a great passer, Bradford's pretty damn good himself... Now offensive player of the year? You have an awesome passer who led his team in rushing AND had an awesome passing year... so it makes sense...
