Great.........so you can be 0-4 and 0-3 and still be ranked? This the same as the Brownwood deal?

In basketball, especially, there are a lot of 3A teams that play 4A and 5A competition in the pre-district phase. Princeton usually plays a few Dallas schools, gets in a few really tough tournaments on their reputation, etc.

that is coorect...for instance...the Crandall girls in 3A have only lost to Coppell, Longview and Mt. Pleasnt...all pretty darn good 4A and 5A schools

As a Wylie fan, I'm a little surprised with both polls.

One being that our girls are ranked so high.

The other is that I think the boys are very good this year and did not make it in the poll.

Sweeny will eventually be in the top 5 in that poll, I bet.

Give em a few more games to get their season off and rolling.

Basketball rankings are different from football rankings. We (Madison) routinely have 10 loss regular seasons in basketball, but most of our non-district schedule comes against 4A and 5A competition. Not many teams will schedule it like that, but you will see a few teams (Ranchview or Velt for instance) who play brutal non-district schedules and still be ranked.

With that said, Ranchview doesn't deserved to be ranked and neither does Princeton. Princeton lost everything from last year's team except Erger's son. I really, really hope we draw them in the playoffs this year. There's nothing more comical than seeing Princeton's coach lose a game. He's not a very gracious loser, that's for sure.

Ranchview lost a talented senior class and they'll likely finish in 3rd in our district. They'll usually go out and get a few good players and won't be down for long though.

Heard Erger was asking about us tonight from one of my friends. Said he wasn't his usual over-the-top confident self. I'm guessing losing two of his Big Three from last year to graduation humbled him just a bit!

That sounds like Paris. We only have two 3A teams scheduled before district begins. They are against Pittsburg which should be down this year after losing Wright, and New Boston which I hear should be pretty good. So far this year we are 3-1 after losing to Dallas Carter pretty bad last night in the Collin County tournament. IMO they stuck it to Paris and Princeton in this tournament. They were the only two schools to have to play two games yesterday both playing at 3 then turning around and playing again in couple of hours. It's hard for us to schedule a lot of the Dallas schools because of the travel. We usually play a couple but it's hard to get them to travel over two hours on a yellow dog for a non district game.
