How many are playing basketball?

I know that Wylie is very good in hoops, RIGHT NOW!! Not much cross over for them, they have large numbers. La Vega...do not really know, but once they get in the gym....LOOK OUT!!! LH, same as Wylie.

Bellville has a 6'8 kid that is supposed to be decent. Add their athletes from football they will be a force. Region 4 still goes through Sam Houston and West Oso in hoops.

the 6'8" kid has improved vastly after playing AAU ball. didnt dunk any last year but last week against brookshire had two dunks of his vertical. Browning #6 in football is spectacular basketball player i would watch out for him, his family has many pro and college athletes, his aunt played in the wnba and his cousin( i think) plays for U of H right now

giddings is pretty decent at basketball too

Wylie got beat by Stephenville last night. their leading scorer had 17 and the coach took him out in the third. he didn't even play him in the fourth or the overtime. my nephew plays for the ville. We are lookin forward to them here in the wood.

Gilmer doesn't start playing basketball until the football team is done. It sucks because our basketball season is usually cut real short.

In 2004, we only played about 5 games, if that many, and then started district.

Our 1st game of the season was against Bullard when they had Brody Greene and Dustin Beavers in Bullard and we had only had 2 practices to get ready for it. Needless to say, we got drug.

I'm telling you right now, they will be GOOD.

They were excellent in 2007, and return EVERYBODY and they got Woddard from B'port (A really good basketball player too) and look for the Soph Lemon to be MUCH better than he already was last year.


I don't know what they are ranked or whatever, but they are the district and maybe region favorites.



I heard they SMOKED Bay City in hoops the other day, don't knwo how good BC is, but they are 4A.

Point is, watch out for the Bulldogs.

Woodard came from Brazosport (4A). He was a starter on the Varsity football and Basketball teams as well as Track I think. He moved to Sweeny this summer.


I KNEW Swenny would be up there in the rankings. But Stafford ahead of them?


They are in the same district and I think Sweeny is far superior to Stafford, but hey... that's just my opinion.

Wylie is like a 5-A they probably have more athletes than Abilene high.

They are really going to have to lay an egg not to be in Austin in March. They'll eventually fall off some, but for this year they are the team to beat in their region. They may be the first Region IV team since the STATE CHAMPION SINTON PIRATES back in 96 to bring a state title to the region. Region IV has just one win in Austin (Oso over a horrible Dimmitt team from region I 45-21) since Sinton defeated Graham 73-66 in the state final that year.
