This was in retrospect. The spokesman Dr. O said "We based it on a final game with Texas at the time but in retrospect it was premature. We failed to look at the whole picture and instead awarded it on a head to head basis. We were wrong. Look at the situation. USC played all those great Pacific 10 teams and won them all and beat Notre Dame at Notre Dame. Plus they had two Heisman trophy winners on that great team. It would be a travesty if this wasn't corrected."
The USC Web site is delighted and is claiming another NC on their list.

OMG more world situations. The USA lost WW2 to Japan. The political authorities said you have to look at how long Japan had been fighting before the USA entered into it plus they said Japan really had the USA going at Pearl Harbor and several months afterward. Also it took two atom bombs to win it and that was illegal - sort of like using ineligible players in football. Look for a new battleship Missiouri to be used where the USA military leaders are going to surrender to Japan and correct this wrong.
