But it was 266-80 at halftime and with Giddings last drive to the 15, and then down to the 25 to end regulation, they probably pulled ahead in second half yards, or at least close to even.

The game was as close as the poll...it took 2 overtimes to decide and it came down to a pat. Wow. That had to be electric!
Congrats to the Buffs.
I hope the score is as lopsided as the poll voting in the LH/BP game tomorrow.

Both teams are playing great football and have plenty of talent. It is always hard to beat an evenly matched opponent twice in one season. The Leps did it in 2001 beating Giddings in a squeeker 17-14 in week one and 21-17 in the state semi-final. I think Giddings might pull off a win in this one though. I would expect another high scoring game with the Buffs winning by a td, perhaps in OT. However, if the Bulls prevail I will not be surprised as it is really that close. Good luck to both teams as D25 cannot lose in this one.
*both 4-1 in district but Bellville gets the nod for head to head win over the Buffs
Congratulations to Giddings and great game to both teams. Excellent season for Bellville who represented D25 well. I predicted an overtime win for Giddings and sure enough double overtime with an extra point making the difference. D25 has to be one of the toughest in state. Good luck next week and hold onto the ball LOL.

Great season to Bellville. Hold your heads up. It sounded like you left it all on the field.
Hope Eric Rimes is OK, I believe he is a sophomore.
Buffs need to put sticky stuff on their hands and do push ups like Emmitt Smith or Herschel Walker to help hold on to the ball.

The announcers in the booth commented how soundproof the booth was, you couldn't hear ANY crowd noise. You could hear the Gilmer and Carthage scouting coaches commenting a bit I think.

when I did get the "feed" I could hear talking behind the announcers- the announcers mentioned that the Gilmer and Carthage coaches were sitting next to them - I figured that's who I heard talking...... I could also hear the official on the field with the calls.......
_Congrats to the Buffs - sounded/read (lol) like a great ballgame - I agree with everyone else's comments - gonna have to hold on to the ball next week.....

Congratulations to the Buffs, go represent R4 (D25) with all that fight that I witnessed tonight. You will have the Brahma Nation behind you. I hope Rimes will be ok, he is one exciting runner.
Hats off to the Bellville Brahmas and thanks for a very exciting year. Tough loss to swallow, losing only by a single point. For all the players returning, this playoff run will go a long way toward the succes of next season.

Sticky stuff wouldn't have helped. Both fumbles were caused by big time hits. Rimes was the victim of probably the hardest hit of the night which almost knocked him completely out. Hopefully he doesn't have a concussion but thats what it looked like.

Yes it was a great game and the best team won tonight.
Looking back at the stats I guess it all makes sense. 31 Pass attempts by the Brahmas and 16 attempts by QB. Play calling was definetly out of whack.

Congrats Bellville on a awesome season, and hard fought game.
Yes, was a big hit when he got knocked out , BUT was no turnover on that play. The 2 turnovers that hurt it didn't seem like very "huge" hits imo. Rimes fumble it clearly looked like he was down.. even on the replay. Next play, Touchdown. Props to Huey on a great call of going deep in the situation. The fumble recovery for a td was a bigtime play by the brahmas.
Was a matter of seconds and the game went from Giddings being in control, to tied with Bellville having ALL the momentum. Thats great high school football.
Giddings D did one heck of job throughout the game, props to them and Z also.
How about the interception by 12 daniels being called back? Another huge game changing call.

must i say, bellville's entire high school football program has lost 4 games this year. all of those losses add up to 4 points. we lost by 1 point in every game. so i must admit, if this is any clue of things to come, the state of texas is in for a real treat when it comes to bellville next year. 4 losses by a total of 4 points... unbelievable!!!

Incorrect. The fumble in the first half happened when the runner jumped and got hit in mid-air, causing the ball to bounce around and finally get picked up by Bellville.
The fumble where Bellville returned it for a score was caused when the runner kept fighting off tackles towards Gidding's sideline and finally Tallerine of Bellville hit him square in the chest and pancaked the runner.

The play Bellville scored on the fumble WAS a fumble, notice I said it was a great play.
I dont know which fumble in the first half you are talkin about, I was just talking about the fumbles that got the momentum turned around. For ex. the fumble that Rimes had, ya'll went deep and scored the next play. On the replay screen it looked like he was down, was close though. I will say there was not a "huge hit" on that play.

The fact of the matter is that Giddings has to hold the ball, no matter what the conditions are on the play. When the refereee make the call in high school football, it is final. If the Gidding RB holds onto the ball there is no question. Bellville made some hard hits that were involved in every fumble, and they should be commended. Giddings had every chance to make this a big win on the scoreboard, but if they want to continue to get a ring, they can't put the ball on the ground so much. The games only get tougher and this wek the Carthage/Giddings winner will make them pay for every mistake.
Congratulations on Giddings for getting it done this week , even with so many mistakes and turnovers. Congratulations to Bellville for a great season. There is alot of youth on that team that will only be better next year.

Great game by the Giddings defense...after watching that I feel a LITTLE more confident going against either Gilmer or Carthage, our offense will score, just will we hold on enough and stop them enough to win...
back to the game, great game planning by Giddings D, seemed like Huey was pulling every trick play off the play sheet they had....Bellville did bring the hat on almost every hit, seemed like first defender would hit and stand him up then fall off right before the next defender came to lay the wood...the three big fumbles really hurt us, the one right before the half when we were going into score, and the two that completely change the game, congrats to Bellville on a good season and looking forward to next year and keep the momentum behind you Giddings, play smart and execute and you can win...
Bull19, i'll have that electric airpump you asked me about sent first class mail ASAP :D
Definately was a great run for Bellville in these playoffs when you consider they were without their best player, probable district MVP, one of the 10-15 best players in 3A, and UTEP commit RB Garrette Nunn.
To me it seemed like they really missed him last night. There were several runs where our ball carrier was arm tackled, tripped, or brought down by one player that we all know 80% of the time doesn't happen to Nunn.
Because these teams know each other so well, it was obvious early on Bellville tried to come out with a more wide-open passing game. Unfortunately the offense never got going and Bellville looked out of rhythm the whole game.

I agree KL3, it seemed like Bellville was going to try and air the ball out and just couldn't get it going.

For all those who were not able to attend.....You missed seeing a roller coaster ride of emotions and a group of young men in black and red give everything they had for their cause. It was the best high school football game that I have ever been able to see in person.
Bellville could do nothing in the first half. it was all Giddings, O Line was a huge factor even with the loss of Big Luis #74. Williams #99/74 came in and played a huge game. Buffs defense, you just can't say enough about their harassment of QB Mueller and the tackles for losses. Halftime, different story. Bellville came out and their first rate defense began to go to work, stopping the Buffs on 3 and out. Bellville's offense began to chip away at the Buffs defense, delayed handoffs, up the middle, QB runs. Buffs defense began to bend in the third quarter especially when their own offense lost possession (fumbles, interception) and forced them back into play with little breaks. Bellville made the Buffs pay for those costly turnovers and were able to get back into this game because of the Buffaloes own mistakes. Bellville's offense never got into any kind of a rhythm, some might say that QB Mueller was out of sync but I give credit to the Buffs D. They were covering every receiver and forcing Mueller to scramble. Several dropped passes by Bellville didn't hurt my feelings either.
The two overtime periods were just unbelievable with the missed FG by Bellville, the TD and blocked PAT (way to go #33 Mathis) and then the Buffs having to substitute for Rimes after his injury, many turned to me in the stands to ask if #6 had ever played fullback??? Well, I think in middle school. With all our fumbles, there were many prayers on the Giddings side that two childhood friends (Masek & Plumlee) could get the hand off and grind out a first down. The elation of the TD was followed by #15 Berry (who had just missed left on an earlier field goal during regular time) changed his shoe and broke his shoe string, but he got the PAT off and it was right down the middle.
I cannot begin to tell you the momentum changes that occurred in this game and the heart that I witnessed in both of these teams as time and time again, they challenged each other.
Great season Bellville. you should be very proud of the way you played all year and maintained your composure as injuries thwarted your game plans each week. Speedy recovery wishes to Nunn and I look forward to hearing great things from his athletic career in the future. Get ready Bulls, A few more weeks and we meet again on the diamond for another battle.
Giddings Buffaloes. You know That we have been asked to say "W.A.O. We are One" when we chant in the stands BUT I want you all to know that during that double overtime, The entire Giddings crowd was in awe of the true meaning of WAO and what we witnessed from this team. If anyone ever wanted to know what W.A.O. means, your actions spoke louder than any words. All at this game need no explanation now.
&&&& Just so you know...We were not chanting "We Are One"
