There has been lots of talk on the ESPN radio shows (especially Mike & Mike in the morning) about taking Detroit off the yearly Thanksgiving day schedule. I think they just said on the pregame that they have been playing on Thanksgiving since 1934.

I know Detroit struggles almost every year but I like having Detroit and Dallas every year. Just curious what you guys think

Kind of makes it hard to defend Detroit when they win the coin toss, yet with only 1:30 played they are down by 7

Yes, they should. The same for the Cowboys. Their owners saw the "extra" benfits of doing so years ago and only recently have the other teams come around to it. Hence the Eagles and Cardinals this evening on NFL Channel.

I didn't hear anybody complaining when Dallas was stinking
it up prior to and after Aikman was there. Why is everyone (primarily ESPN)
complaining now?

I saw that too, and got quite a cackle out of it.

Personally I'm a big fan of tradition, and it's nobody's business but Detroit's if they get embarrassed every Thanksgiving. If they decide not to do it anymore, then that's one thing, but it's not ESPN's call.

I agree 100%.

When Dallas was on a down turn Detroit had Barry Sanders. You
didn't have to be a fan of the Lions to watch him...just a fan of
pro football.

Now, ESPN is trying to stir the pot nationally. If for no other
reason than to boost their ratings. They are about to run
themselves fresh out of credibility with me. The only thing that
they have going for them is the fact that ABC owns them and
Disney owns ABC. Otherwise, ESPN might become as irrelevent
as the VS channel.
