I've put together the history back to 1940 which includes the first of their two undefeated & untied seasons since 1920 which was in 1941 as well as all but the 6 earliest playoff appearances ('26,'28,'29,'30,'32 & '33). There will be more to come soon... What's posted below constitutes over 3/4 of the entire history according to UIL records.

In 1942 they forfeited an unplayed Regional Final against Van which would officially have their record as 6-1-0 that year, but I consistently list on-the-field game results only in my stats and note forfeits by the usual asterisk.

I'm not sure why they haven't taken too kindly to you.

A lot of people over there are pretty unpleasant. I'm sorry you feel that way. I used to be an avid poster over there, I had over 3000 posts within a year or so. (I know that's no where near the numbers some of you put up but that's a lot to me.) I still post frequently, but not nearly like I used to.

Anytime you say something over there that someone doesn't agree with, you would have thought that you just slapped their mom, stole their dog and took their girl.

BTW, I'm poisonednutz10 over there. I tried to register that name here, but was told it was inappropriate.

I knew it! Hey, poisonednutz10! I'm blackflag79 over there. Don't remember why I used 2 different screen names, but just in case anybody was wondering....:D

WOS87, the poster you were referring to over there at that site is that kinda guy. He hates Gilmer with a passion. I don't know why he's that way, but I suspect someone from Gilmer took a dump in his Post Toasties and took his girl a few years back. :D Whatever it is, anytime you post anything with Gilmer in the title you can expect him to come in and spew some hatred. Don't be so thin-skinned as to let worms like that get to you, because VERY few people are really like that there, or here for that matter, but you do have those types on all sites. MOST of us love your work and it is greatly appreciated. You are the statistician guru, in my opinion! Keep up the good work!

I've been trying to figure that out... All I've come across so far are a bunch of articles similar to the one below reporting that it was a forfeit and no game was actually played.

Hey WOS87, I like how you researched all the info on Gilmer's history. How did you compile all of this? It must have taken many hours.

I'm wondering if the 14 consecutive shutouts from 1941-1942 is a record. It beats the Daingerfield '83 record as well as the Pittsburg '80 record

I will doublecheck to make sure the chronologic order of all the games is correct.... I'm thinking we surely would have heard of such a streak before.

Here is the link on the '83 Daingerfield team. I was there for Sweeny although very young.

Daingerfield still holds the record for most shutout's in a season at 14.

National Consecutive Shutout streak as of 2008

18 Portsmouth Woodrow Wilson, VA. (1926 - 27)

I was talking about consecutive shutouts.... although it looks like McLeod and Waco High have that or better

Daingerfield only had 13 consecutive shutouts in '83

Daingerfield has the SEASON RECORD of 14 shutout's not consecutive.

Wow!

From 1940-42, Gilmer had a 19 game stretch where they gave up a grand total of 6 points. That has got to be some kind of record statewide, if not nation wide.

Gilmer history back to the very beginning is now posted... there are a few games that are disputed from the 1910's and reportedly a few games that were played that weren't reported to the UIL so I will hopefully be updating in the future

Gilmer took advantage of "forward passes"? You know that clipping is old when they talk like that.
