The TABC rankings early in the season are lame at best. Hardin-Jefferson remains #1 after losing to Nederland 79-63. Nederland is not known for their basketball prowess and Nederland won this game easily without their best post player who was still playing football.

Silsbee actually drops 2 spots to #8 after winning the only game they have played so far, 100-61. That was without 4 players who were still playing football, 2 of them starters with one of those starters being their best player in all-stater Shannon Robinson.

The TABC poll is a joke and will remain that way probably until district play is over.

At least the "joke" gives us something to talk about!

I don't like how the TABC does their rankings. One of the coaches that's on the TABC board that votes for the all-state team as well as the rankings explained it to me like this a few years back.

They will try to have an equal number of teams from each region in their rankings or they'll come as close as possible to doing so. Personally I find that to be a ridiculous way to do the rankings, but it's how they do it.

I'd like for us to get to play H-J again (we beat them a few years back in the Beaumont tournament that we used to go to every year.) to see how we'd fare against them this year. Oh well we've got another monster game tomorrow against #12 Carter (who very well could be the Region II rep in Austin this year in 4A.) so we've got our hands full at the moment with this non-district schedule without them on the schedule.

Whenever Sinton gets into basketball, they could be a team to lookout for ;)

The Lady Rattlers are looking good so far after loosing some key players to graduation from their team that lost to Canyon by 10 in the state semifinals.

Speaking of the poll, the Lady Rattlers jumped from around 15 to #5.

Go Lady Rattlers!

I think our boys team is better than our girl's team personally but they both are freakin' good!

We'll without three point guards for a while though -- one for injury, one for UIL conflict, and one for grades.

The boys may fall a little. I am hearing stirs that DP may graduate early to make LSU's spring practices. I wonder if there is any truth?

That's a nice win for the girls. I saw a few people from Crandall at Cobb this past Saturday when we played Lincoln. I don't recognize the kids from Crandall, but one of them looked like he probably plays basketball for them.
