Usually the 3rd and beyond rounds in the playoffs are where many good teams face great teams. Sinton is a good team and although they have played very well and deserve to be where they are at now, my feeling is that they don't have enough size and speed to keep up with the competition from here on out. With that being said, it would still be nice for them to pull the upset since they are the underdogs and do represent 31-3A.

They might prove me wrong if they beat the snot out of us Friday, but I just ain't feeling it with everything I've seen from them and us, to date.

But we all know I'm crazy & don't know what I'm talking about half the time! :D

BTW for those in the local area, "The Sinton Pirate football game will be broadcast on Majic 104.9 FM . The
"Voice of the Pirates" will provide color commentary for the broadcast."

No doubt Cuero is top team of region IV in both division and when they're on they can make you look bad. the div 2 teams are pretty much even with Giddings maybe have the fastest team of the 4 but Sinton maybe the biggest from the 4. Both div 2 games should be close games.

Remember we are the Pirates, so in these famous words of Elizabeth Swann in At World's End here is something to go by Sinton Pirates,

"You will listen to me! LISTEN! The other ships will still be looking to us, to the Bonecrusher,(Black Pearl) :D to lead, and what will they see? Frightened bilgerats aboard a derelict ship? No, no they will see free men and freedom! And what the enemy will see, they will see the flash of our cannons, and they will hear the ringing of our swords, and they will know what we can do! By the sweat of our brow and the strength of our backs and the courage in our hearts! Gentlemen, hoist the colors!"

Refresh my memory.......When we played Burnett at Bobcat stadium years back we were the Visitors right? We went in the gate on the North East side of the field closest to Aquarina Springs Rd?

I guess it doesn't matter where you go in? Seems like we had to wait a while in line for them to open the gate. What about going in the front gate on the South end of the field?

Any thoughts??????? Does it matter?

Man, I've been reading this thread and the Bridgeport thread and have reached a greater understanding of the elite of 3A football. Based on what I now understand, Bridgeport and Bellville have the two most potent offenses in the 3A ranks and both have the defense that has speed, size and tackles better than anyone else.

Can you imagine if these two were playing each other---this thread might reach about 1500 posts in a single week.

At this stage of the playoffs, any team can win against any team. This is the time of year that preparation and execution on both sides of the ball become the benchmarks for success. Both teams in this game will be prepared, but who executes. I think this is a toss up. Sinton is undefeated and has shown that they find a way to win. Bellville lost to Sealy at home in a big rival game.

Practice makes perfect for Pirates
A year removed from 1-9 record, Sinton football is unbeaten
By Javier Becerra (Contact)
Wednesday, November 26, 2008

SINTON — The Sinton football team is flourishing once again, a year after the program's worst season in nearly three decades.

Although the Pirates expected to rebound from a dismal 1-9 campaign, no one predicted this.

Sinton (11-0) went undefeated to claim the District 31-3A championship and takes an 11-game winning streak into Friday night's Class 3A Division II regional semifinal against Bellville (11-1) at Bobcat Stadium in San Marcos. To get there, all the Pirates had to do is finish what they started.

"Everything we did during offseason, summer workouts and two-a-days was geared around completing what you begin," second-year coach Tom Allen said. "I think that really paid off because this year our kids finished plays, they finished drives, they finished quarters, they finished halves and they finished games. We did some things that we weren't capable of doing last year."

Like win a district game.

After going 1-4 in non-district, including two shutouts, Sinton went 0-5 in 30-3A and finished in last place. As a result, the Pirates missed the playoffs for the first time in nine years.

The season ended with a 38-13 loss to Ingleside, which the players used as a starting point.

"As soon as we lost to Ingleside we knew it was time to get to work," senior center Justin Tijerina said. "It took a lot of hard work in the offseason, but we had a job to do."

The Pirates haven't clocked out yet.

Sinton is averaging 37 points per game and has scored at least 47 points in four of the past five, including a best of 56 against Falfurrias. The Pirates scored 48 in a first-round win over Lyford and 49 in against Pearsall last week.

Guiding the offense are quarterbacks Carson Cave and Josh Harrison, a duo that can strike on the ground and through the air. The two aren't the only players contributing on offense.

Running backs Richard Orta and Roy Perez are responsible for the bulk of the ground production. Ryan Cantu, Rudy De Los Santos and Ram Sanchez also have double-digit carries and give the Pirates plenty of depth in the backfield.

No one cares who gets the carries.

"That's the personality of our football team," Allen said. "We don't have a star that goes out there and makes plays when everything breaks down. Our guys get things done as a unit. This is a very selfless group."

The same is true for the defense, which held Lyford and Pearsall to 14 points each.

"I wouldn't say we have any one person that's outstanding," senior linebacker Taylor Kirkpatrick said. "It's a whole team effort. We go in and come out as a team, win or lose. It's just that we've been winning."

First the Pirates had figure out how to finish what they started.

"You have to grow up and go through some lumps before you can get back to the top," Allen said. "You can't ever find out what's on the other side unless you get right up to the edge. Some people are scared about getting all the way there. That's a hard thing to get through to kids that weren't successful the year before. They never gave up believing."

There is another pep rally tonight at 8pm at the football field that is being put on by some of the parents. Their will be music (provided by the booster club) but since it's Thanksgiving, there will be no band and not every player/coach is guaranteed to be there.

Hopefully, their will be some support as it is Thanksgiving evening and there will be football on tv.

Friday morning send off is at approx 11am.

Sinton hasnt been getting respect by the opposition in the playoffs before the game. Lyford coaching staff after watching flim on Sinton said on newspaper clip and tv station they would be able to pass on Sinton and shut down Sinton as Sinton hadnt face anybody of the caliber of his team. Next team Pearsall, on their radio station before the game their Coach saying Sinton hadnt faced anybody(thats being thrown out each week) and they shouldnt have much problems getting past this unbeaten team. After Lyford game the Lyford coach said in the paper he didnt realize how good Sinton was on offense and almost the exact same thing by Pearsall coach.
 What film is Sinton coach exchanging with them, the AP game?:D Pearsall radio announcers kept saying Sinton was a running team and only passed if they had too, hmm wonder if its the game Sinton only ran the ball the whole game.

I dont think Bellville coaching or players is overlooking Sinton and know they're in for a game. Good luck to both and happy thanksgiving then we get it on tommorrow night.:)

I will be the first one on this board to come forward and admit I overlooked Sinton as a real prospect for the R4 championship IF they win this game. And if they do win this game, good on them... a re-calibration of my views regarding R4 (Cuero not included until you beat them) will be in order. Pull this off, Sinton...and the 3A world will stand and take notice. Good luck!

My son was on last years team and it did not go well at all. But I am glad that this year they have turned it around and just believed in their abilities when not many other people believed in them.
