No second teamers. Navasota got up by 2 td's, 20-6 early, and basically kept that margin the rest of the way. Silsbee did close it to 20-13, and 34-26, but not getting the td in the 4th after having a first and goal from the 7 doomed Silsbee's comeback chances. That would have narrowed it to 48-40. Still would have needed an onside kick recovery, but funnier things have happened.

does silsbee still run a sort of option attack, i now a couple years ago in the playoffs we faced them they had a good qb who rushed for alot. but newho, good game rattlers

seems like if Silsbee holds on to the ball in the 1st qtr. the game would have been alot closer...them turnovers will kill you everytime...:clap:

Silsbee does not run the veer anymore. They run the spread with their duel threat QB Jeremy Johnson. The junior QB finished the season with 2,082 yards passing, 18 td's, and 805 yards rushing, 7 td's.

In the two years he has been the Tiger qb, he has rushed for 1,500 yards and passed for over 3,600.

I look for Johnson to put up bigger numbers next year in his senior season.

TAT, that QB from Silsbee was as sliipery as a wet snake. I don't think I have ever seen a HS QB buy so much time to throw. I saw several times that he scrambled for 8-10 seconds and found receivers.

I know its hard for the defensive backs to keep coverage that long and looking back at the QB running around, it's hard to see if he is across the line or still in passing mode, but most times coverage was not that bad. Timing on breaking on the ball hurt alot. Two or three of those completions were becausr DB's just jumped too early to go for the INT instead of knocking down the ball.

Tell the guys the rust has now been knocked off from the first week bye and next week we have to buckle on the helmet and play like champions. You are still my pick for the Championship.
