On one of two scores by Buffs in 2nd half, they intercepted and ran in after 2 or 3 plays. Not sure on the other one.

W/ 2 mins. left in 3rd quarter, Giddings up 28-20. Yoakum had a long k/o r/turn, then scored 2 plays later. Then, Yoakum recovered onside kick and had long run by QB, then a pass to score. This has turned into way too close of a game...

Sounded on the radio like Yoakum players committing multiple personal fouls while Giddings was taking a knee. Like 2 or 3 in a row???

I blame this on the coach or would expect some sort of disciplinary action.

Yoakum kids really played hard the whole game and got after us. With that being said, I really feel like the score is a little misleading. It was a game of momentum changes for sure. Obviously on gidding's side most of the game, but when it turned it turned. Yoakum prolly wouldn't have been able to make the momentum change in the second half if giddings would have taken advantage of just one of the 3 drives inside the yoakum 10 yard line in the first quarter. The score felt like it should have been 21 or 28 to nothing at half, then any of the early second half scoring by the buffs would have prolly deflated a very persistent yoakum team.

Exciting game for both teams & not near as bad getting to the stadium as I had anticipated. However, I did leave @ 4 pm. Congratulations to Yoakum for definitely showing up, contrary to earlier facetious posts about this game. Thought Yoakum should know that they were home team but somehow got put on the visitor's side???? don't know how that happened. But adequate seating for the crowd that both teams brought.

Giddings defense controlled Yoakum the first half. They were fired up and flying to the ball carrier. Buffs offense started slow with some snap/QB ball issues but when they rolled, they stampeded. Long run, after long run. The speed was something to watch. Then when Dogs defense stiffened, Buffs just began to pound them up the middle. Buffs intercepted several times thru the game. 3rd quarter momentum changed to the Dogs. Buffs D came out flat, maybe a coasting a little with the lead. Dogs had a skipping on the ground up the middle kickoff that hit one of our blockers in the side as he turned to watch it go by. Bounced right back to Yoakum. and two nice runs(one kickoff return to set up a TD and a nice scamper by the QB for long yardage). & a recovered fumble. But Buffs never faltered, even as the score tightened, A gutsy call by Fitz to go for it on 4th and goal, 9 yds out instead of taking a field goal had me hyperventilating in the stands. I was able to breath again when Brite took it in, swiftly. I bet BOCEPHUS was reaching in his pocket for his flask on that one too.

Referees let this game go by pretty smoothly. A couple of face mask penalties, other unsportsmanlike penalities(late hits, some shoving). That was about it. Very few flags, in fact I can't remember seeing a field with that few yellow rags in a Buffalo game. Finally they(refs) took over and let the clock run out with about 20 seconds left when Bulldogs began to get frustrated and were hitting the center and QB as he was kneeling the ball. Glad they finally did that, don't need anyone getting hurt. #42 on defense and #10 QB for the Bulldogs were really getting after us.

Next up, Buffs vs Rio Hondo Bobcats.

Don't know much about Rio Hondo only that they bring a crowd.

The whole thing last night was jacked up from the get go. When I got there I thought the same thing about the stands and Yoakum being on the wrong side but that is Austin ISD's fault for not getting that straight. Second that was the worse officiated playoff game I have ever seen. I am amazed that you could be that one sided and that obvious on who you want to win. I hope the coaches send this tape to someone because it was that bad. End of the game ball thrown into the end zone and they knock down a receiver in the end zone and the official is two feet from it and they do not call a pass interference, about 4 times giddings fumbles the ball and yoakum recovers only to the officials saying they were down??? How can someone be down when the ball is on the ground before the initial hit and a yoakum player gets up with it. I will tell you how because of cheating I felt like I was watching the NBA finals game with the Donahey the lieing cheating ref.

Now having said all of that because i needed to get it off my chest giddings did move the ball at will at times. THey have a very good offensive group that fits that offense well. Good luck to Giddings and get after Rio Hondo

I agree, Austin ISD not organized at all, seating fans on the wrong side and telling others that a game was not even scheduled there for that night.:thinking:

I agree, definitely pass interference. Buffs got away with that one and Bulldogs got away with at least two facemasks. So by my Mom calculations of yards assessed on penalties, we're even.:rolleyes:

And.....Yoakum fans very hospitable and classy in the parking lot after the game. Had a nice time visiting with them. :D

One last comment on this game and the officials in it. Let's just say that whatever chapter they were from Rio Hondo needs to find out and stay as far away from them as possible. I know for a fact that there were 3 fumbles that Yoakum recovered and the officials whole heartedly cheated and gave the ball back to giddings because I feel that is who the refs wanted to win. I think I am going to sign up and become a ref. after that display.

great season yoakum. what a turnaround from last year. with most of the players back and a good off-season program they should be very good next season.
good luck to giddings for remainer of season. you have some good kids thats are very well coached.
one comment on officials. they dont decide the outcome of a game even though we dont allways agree with some of there calls.. teams decide the outcome of the game . yoakum only had 55 yds. of penalities and that probably the least they have had this season. had 105 against poteet and 130 against goliad.
