this thread can go many different directions... just figured we could discuss interesting mascot/color combos...

I find it interesting that a few teams named Lions and Wilcats use the color maroon... always thought that was an interesting combo... wonder what's behind that choice... a college team's combo maybe?

Brownwood, Ennis, Calallen, Kenedy I believe, they're all maroon...

what other wildcats or lions are maroon?

The Yorktown Wildcats are Black and Gold...

Forgot about them, played them in '98 playoffs... they're another one of those cats that are fantasy-book purple... just like that one team that has jumped from Region 4 to Region 1 in two reallignments...

that's very interesting...

Virginia Tech Hokies (ex-Gobblers) Maroon and Orange

Cuero Gobblers Green and White... I missed why we're Green and White, never seen a turkey that color, wonder why Green and White... I love it though...

I am going totally off of what could be a urban legend

but I always heard so many schools are maroon because back in the day that was one of the cheaper color dyes for uniforms and such
