Alright lets get tthis party started early. Who gets it done? I guess the better question would be who do Texas fans go for?

This is going to be one wild great game. I'm thinking OU will eventualy put up more points than Tech. Most of the OU games this year, Stoops has callled the dogs off for the 4th quarter.

Every since they played UT, they have been rolling through opposition.

If I was betting I'd take OU to beat the spread, and the over for the entire score.

I went to the OU and A&M game, and the Sooners are for real. Not to mention the fact that even though they lost to my favorite team the Horns, they still put up great numbers. The breaks went Texas' way. Just like in the second half of the Tech vs Horn game the breaks went to Tech. Two great teams, I believe that it is a total toss up.

OU has built a bad rep as a bad pass defense against teams that have no where even close to the Tech passing game. I'm guessing Tech will score early and often on a defense that cant stop passing games by much less offenses than Techs. OU will have to score 50 to win this one. They may well do it,,,,,,,,,but I doubt it.

How? Tech was up by 18 at the half and had to hold on the entire 2nd half. We don't ever kick field goals like we did against UT. Heck, we dropped 2 TD's and then the punt return that had 2 blocks in the back that didn't get called. I think most of the breaks when UT's way, save the holding that hasn't been called by Big 12 refs all year.

But to the original point of the thread, I'm saying Tech by < 7, if that. I sure hope it's not by < 3 because then I'll probably have a heart attack. There is no edge to either offense. Tech has the edge on defense, just look at the numbers. I'm not sure about special teams, but I'll give that to OU. Last year, every time they got a kick off I was sure it was going to the house, but they never made it happen. Now, that having been said, this is going to be a great game. I can't wait for Saturday night. 2 weeks of this type of anxiety can't be good for me. Every day I'm reminded by some ESPN analyst why OU has the edge or why Tech has the edge. I'm just ready for it all to be over. Guns Up!!

OU in a shootout. Tech's defense is better than I thought, they played a great game against Texas. OU just outscores TT. But I wouldn't be surprised either way...the sad thing is one of these teams won't make a BCS bowl game, that's just wrong!

trojan37

I don't know that I would give the special teams to OU. They are dangerous on punt returns, but their kickoff return team has been subject this year. I think offensively Tech needs to attack across the middle where they haven't looked good since losing their LB in the Texas game. And I hate to say it, but the OU receivers speed will be too much for the Tech secondary.

Not going to happen, Tech gets drummed, and as for the Boomers they along with the Raiders get to watch Texas go to the Big XII title game and then on to play the Gators for it all! Hook'em!

HM33

Going to be a good one. I still see it being a shootout and Tech with a Harrell to Crabtree hook up to get the winning TD. The winner of the game will be the team that has the better DEFENSIVE game plan. Both Offenses are going to score, there is no doubt about that. Its just which D can stop them the few times it happens and which D can get turnovers.

Since 1980 when Tech barely upset UT in Lubbock 24-21, I have followed the UT and Tech game religiously every year- was a sophomore at Tech in '80... . I have seen the years that Tech "lucked" into a win and then dropped the subsequent game to OU.. Trust me.. this year is different.

Tech totally domainated UT in the first half of that game in Lubbock.. Not luck.. not big plays.. hard nosed, denial of your game plan style defense.. running game... yes running game for TTU!... and plassing plays that were so far ahead in the game of chess being played by the defensive coordinator for UT that it was just silly..

Tech was the recipient of some bad luck in the second half late.. missing field goals that should have been gimmies and dropping touch down passes that should have been caught... and yet they still pulled it off.. that would not have happened in years past... Tech had to get ALL the breaks and play perfect to win....

OU does not understand what is fixing to happen to them at home.. go back and look at my prediction.. it will ring in your head by about 8:30 - 8:45.... OU will not be able to stop the Tech offense and will be stymied on offense trying to find something that will gain yardage..

sorry.. thats just the way its going to be.. TRUST ME..

I will say this, UT played there worst game ever and still was within 6 points. Plus you were one interception away from losing. I call that luck.

Whats wrong tech fans? Seems like either Oklahoma is gettin much help from the Refs or Tech cant win a big game outside of Lubbock. This is just ridiculous, Yea unless Tech scores another 28-35 points in the second half Oklahoma will jump texas and Texas will remain at #3. the way things are going and if Florida beats Alabama in a close SEC championship game Oklahoma could move into #1 spot and Texas could move to #2 in the BCS. I know its very unlikely but we could see 2 big 12 teams in the number 1 and 2 spots in the BCS next weekend.

Wow -- I expected OU to win handily, but I wasn't expecting this kind of escort service to the woodshed.

UT is screwed. Yes, they needed OU to win, but not like this. The Sooners will shoot up in the BCS rankings perhaps as high as #2 after this one.

And it looks like BCS ranking will break the tie in the Big 12 South -- assuming Okie State doesn't upset OU next week.

I know its very unlikely but we could see 2 big 12 teams in the number 1 and 2 spots in the BCS next weekend. Only hope for that happening is either Auburn beats Alabama and Alabama beats Florida in the SEC championship game or Florida St beats Florida and Florida beats Alabama in the SEC championship game.

OU does not understand what is fixing to happen to them at home.. go back and look at my prediction.. it will ring in your head by about 8:30 - 8:45.... OU will not be able to stop the Tech offense and will be stymied on offense trying to find something that will gain yardage..

If they keep this up and score another 42 they may go to #1.

Bye Bye Texas and Texas Tech. Oklahoma will play for the National Championship after this whipping. I agree they deserve it. They got up for this game and Tech was out coached in the first half. Texas and their coaches were not able to do any of this on either side of the ball when they played Tech. Therefore in my opinion, they are at this point in the season better than Texas even though Texas beat them earlier. Today, Oklahoma would stomp a mudhole and walk it dry on any team it faced and especially Texas. Good Luck Sooners the rest of the year.

Well that there are several scenarios that will have to still play out for OU to play for the NC title. OU has to beat OSU, Tech has to beat Baylor after coming off this game, and Texas has to beat ATM. There are still several scenarios as to how this season will play out and nothing is guaranteed.

Your crazy, OU wouldnt be able to score that many points on Texas. Doesnt matter if it was now or earlier in the season, Texas stopped their offense which is what they needed to do. If Texas couldnt stop their offense Oklahoma would have easily put up 50-60 points. Texas just outplayed Oklahoma and i do believe they could do it again if they needed to.

Tech is much betther than the scoreboard. I think reality just sank in sometime over the last two weeks that this game would actually transcend them into a possible National Title and it was just too much for them to rack their brains around. This stage is nothing new for OU and it looks overwhelming for Tech. Plus, I think Stoops somehow visited the future and knew every play Tech was running.

OU had the advantage in that they were playing at home and have OBVIOUSLY seen Tech's offense before as Leach used to be a coach in Norman. Tech came in thinking they were gonna roll and OU was better prepared as they have seen that offense personally before. Stoops knew what to look for and they just had a HUGE advantage.

Also though,

1. Leach saw Stoops D while at OU but failed to get past it tonight.

2. Tech also had 2 WEEKs to prepare.

OU just flatout stomped Tech. They should jump to #2.

King_LeYoeNidas,
It ought to be a great game in Stillwater next week...watching Zac Robinson and Dez Bryant along with Kendall Hunter.

However I have a feeling that the Sooners have more to play for than the Cowboys!

I wonder what the line is between TEXAS and a&m is?
Do the fighting aggies have a chance in Austin??

Both games you mention are bitter rivalries. Never count any underdog from winning one of these. OSU will be fired up and ready as will TAMU.

I think OSU has the better chance at the upset, but I believe both Texas and Oklahomo will win.

Now we just have to see what the polls say this week. Will Texas be higher ranked than Oklahomo or will the Sonner jump the Longhorns. Unless one of them loses, the higher ranked team will be the Big 12 South Champion. What a crappy way to decide the champ.

3. Tech didn't have the ADVANTAGE of that home cooking like they're use to!!!

4. Oklahoma proved that you stop Crabtree, you stop Tech's offense. Harrell was looking for him 95% of the time, especially on 4th down!!!!

funny, I thought ol Harrell was looking for the grass considering how many times his face was in it. Even if Texas gets leapfrogged, the sheer joy of Tech not making it is fine by me. Hell, even if Oklahoma wins the big one, Longhorns can lay claim to beating the Champions so it's all good IMO...but at the end of the day, I still see Texas going to #2 and everyone cryin about it.

That one falls into the "Old Fashioned Butt Whoopin" category.

Tech learned Lesson #1 tonight.

Lesson #1: Never wear pants with elastic in the waist. They may seem comfortable, but it is far too easy for someone to yank them down in public.

Well dont get too happy because Texas still has a chance unfortunately for you Tech HAS NO CHANCE. Texas beat OU, but barely lost to Tech and Tech got their butts handed to em from OU.

But if OSU beats Oklahoma they have to losses and head to head Tech beat Texas thus handing Tech the Big 12 South.:D

Year your right so that would mean that Texas would be ranked higher but wouldnt play in the BIG 12 title game but would have a legitimate shot at the NCG. Weird how all this works, we're just going to have to see how it all plays out.

They may well do it,,,,,,,,,but I doubt it.

Stang Red,
SO MUCH FOR YOUR THEORY! The Sooners "bad ass" defense made the "best passing offense in the country" look like a sand lot team.

After all the hype and publicity, the #2 rated team in the country and their Heisman candidate just could not live up to their potential when the opportunity arrived. It is obvious that Oklahoma could have scored even more if their valid Heisman had played the entire game.

Oh my, my Tech Red Raiders could not pull off the biggest game in their history 3 times in 1 year.

Harrell for Heisman!

Bobby,
I am confused by your statement about " 3 times in a year"!!

So much publicity was given to Harrell and the Red Raiders this past week, so this was their BIG opportunity to prove themselves.

Obviously, Harrell is a sharp passer when given the time to throw, but nation and the sportswriters saw what happened when he faced a real defense.

Realistically, Harrell can kiss the Heisman "goodbye"!!
:(

....Especially when you have McCoy....Tebow....Bradford...Daniel as competition.

Harrell will unlikely impress anyone with his one remaining game against Baylor....regardless how well he does!!

I'd love to see Tech pull a Caldwell-esque self implosion and totally blow it against Baylor. Baylor will play them hard and will want to go out on a high note.

McCoy should get the Heisman IMO..even in their loss he was solid, putting them in the lead late after being down all night. That's a leader right there...:)

That was the most incredible atmosphere I have ever been a part of. It was just plain fun to be in that stadium last night. Bob Stoops called us out, saying we weren't raucous enough. We definitely rose to the challenge last night. Best part was right before halftime, "Enter Sandman" cam on the loudspeaker and the entire stadium started jumping up and down. Most incredible sight I had ever seen. Unbelievable.

Affiliations aside, I'm shocked that Stoops would say that. The OU fans are some of the most rabid in the nation. Could it be that maybe the fans weren't that loud because the team wasn't playing well? I remember watching the Kansas/OU game and the fans were dead because the OU defense couldn't stop Reesing, but that's on Stoops, not the fans.

Well, being in the stadium for five other home games this year, I can attest that he's right in the fact that we're not always super loud. I mean some teams didn't even use silent counts on offense because of it. We're rabid in support for sure, but not always in the volume department. But we for sure fixed it last night. :D

When you have the Saturday night ABC game, you have no excuse for not being loud except if your team stinks. And if your team stinks, you're not going to be on national TV on Saturday night in the first place...;)
